If you kill them with insecticide you'll probably just harm the population of their natural predators more than them (as it accumalates at the end of the food chain). They will return next year in full force with even less things to reduce them. That's why stuff like this happens, people take ecology into their own hands and screw it up.

There are no natural predators that will reduce the numbers for about three years with this type of infestation.

or you can use the wwII method:
put the worms into forced labor camps.

Medieval method:
take a webworm , rip its legs off, beat it with its own legs
burn off its reproductive organs
rip its digestive tract out and make it watch.

the vlad method:
take webworms impale them on lil stakes
post the decaying worm bodies around your yard as a warning to other webworms

the US Government method.
Pay the webworm enemys to fight the webworms

chinese method
train other insects to be your secret police force, have them capture and kill the webworms at night

Todays battle is over!!

It appears that I am the victor in this first battle. The war is not yet over, but tonight I rejoice.

It is SNOWING in TEXAS in JUNE! The worms are falling!

I used almost two bottles of this poison. The directions said to set the dial at 1.5 oz per gallon. I tried that at first, but wasn't satisfied. I chaged it to 3 oz per gallon and death rained upon the worms unlike anything ever seen before.

We will give it a week to determine how successful this victory is. If necesarry, another battle will occur next weekend to esure victory.

The poison said children and pets can go back outside after it dries, so my dog is in the house right now. I waited until the evening to spray the poison so it won't dry as fast and will maybe kill more worms.

I am excited about the results so far, but it is a mess out there. It is raining poison and snowing dead worms, so I can't go outside right now.

In the coming days, we will learn of how successful our efforts have been.

You are gonna take pics and post them, right? This is a pretty epic battle, pics are necessary.

Ok, the pics and video was taken from my camera phone. The quality is pretty
bad, but I think you can still see the worms. Every white spot is a worm. Some are still wriggling around as you may be able to see in the video.
It's starting to get dark, so it was even harder to get good pictures. I tried to show the worms on my portch, but it was too dark already.

It's dark so this video is pretty crappy. Every white spot is a worm. You can probably see some still wriggling around.

Well, after a couple days, the results are looking promising. There are LOTS of dead worms around.

But.... there are lots of live ones still too.

I may have to go with a second dose this coming weekend. I have a new strategy, though. First I must obtain a ladder long enough to get me on the roof of the house. Then I'll nuke them! While standing on the roof, I will be able to reach much higher in the tree... hopefully all the way to the top.

I'll need more poison, though.

Solution:

Find out what part of the garden they are breeding and destroy it! Simple!

We used to have a similar problem but with caterpillars! Apparently caterpillars love to breed on a particular type of tree... we used to get thousands of them! And we were told look for a tree matching a particular description in the yard. Alas we found it... lets just say there were so many on the tree that the trank looked like it was moving and living!

So we chopped down that tree and then no more caterpillars!

I think it works for webworms too so do your research and kill the plants they like to breed on.

Killing them is useless becuase they will just come back next season!

You're right. They like the Fruitless Mulberry trees. I could remove the one in the back yard, but the one in the front is huge and nice. It keeps my energy bill lower by shading the house.

I'm not necesarraly trying to get rid of all of them. They were and still are moving into my house. They were all over the porch and even the door handle. They also drop lots of.... I guess it's WORM POOP all over the place. I don't like to park my car under the tree right now.

If I can just reduce the numbers in that one tree, I'll be happy. So far it's looking good.

I'd like to get a systemic poison that kills on contact for the next go-round.

Nice job so far!! I just heard about these worms in belgium!! The firefighters there used some large fire sprayers to destroy them!! but it took a very long time!! Maybe your poison attack is more effective?!?! We'll see, but it looks good so far!!

You could use hot water or something, too, maybe? For the ones laying on the ground and still living??
