Holy crap! The History channel just said ****! It’s almost 1pm in the afternoon, its cable, and they said ****. What’s the deal with this? How come some shows / channels can get past the FCC and others get raped if they do something like this? Do you think Family Guy on a Sunday NIGHT could get away with saying ****? Why can the history channel say it on a weekend in the middle of the day when those oh so precious children might be watching?
I remember hearing that the censors at Fox didn’t even like BLEEPING something on Family Guy! Bleeping! What the Christ! (The show was Band of Brother on the History Channel in America on basic cable. Don’t turn this into a debate about if it should be censored or not, just tell me why the crap one show can get away with it in the middle of the day and another can’t?) |

its because band of brothers is an educational type thingy. its the same reason they showed shindlers list on fox years ago un censored...
something like the OC can not have cussing in it, it would be totally pointless on that show. sorry ;( ________ aromed vaporizers |

Actually, the FCC doesn't regulate Cable TV (nor do they regulate satellite radio...that's why Howard Stern is now on Sirius). Why do you think South Park got away with the episode that repeated **** over 100 times? The FCC only regulates public broadcasts (like your local over the air TV stations, local radio stations, etc). Cable TV is a paid subscription service.
However, other factors keep things clean...like advertisers who would refuse to advertise on channels that draw too many complaints, etc etc (this was an issue for the previously mentioned South Park episode...Comedy Central was worried that advertisers would get angry about it and drop them, but none of them did). |

I think that it's quiet amusing that you can't swear on American TV and always laugh when I am watching MTV and half of the song "Stan" by Eminem is not bleeped but silenced out, whats the point of censoring out half the song and parts of the song that don't even have swear words? Herein Australia IIRC you can swear as much as you like as long as its after a certain time, I think it's 9.
