Default BT Network upgrades
Just visiting the availability checker at samknows (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php) I noticed something new, "21CN". This is the switch over to newer line technology apparently.

The process of getting switched-on will move the BT's network technology to a system based on Internet Protocol technology, also known as IP.

This technology is being used because:

* It allows a much greater volume of information to travel through the network more quickly.

The advantages to homes and businesses are:

* A new generation of faster Internet services will be made possible. You’ll be able to get on with what you want to do without worrying about download speeds.
* Services will be at least as reliable and secure as they are today. Seems good, but you are also given a date when this will happen, our line isn't going to be updated until the end of 2010

I'm sure some of you have a closer date than that.

Q4 of 2008, West London.

The 'switched on' blurb is a little thin on details, but sounds quite interesting.

I found it thin on details too, more generic terms than fine details unfortunately.

Praying that I will be on the 50mb trial on NTL by the end of the year... NTL just announced that they are re-naming and will be introuducing 50mb with trials starting at the end of the year I really hope they improve the upload though [thumbup].
