Default 1jz swap complete! *56k*
Well, I've been the owner of my '88 supra n/a clunker for about 3-4 years now and finally she has some real power. Got a 1jz/5speed clip a few months ago and got it dropped in. Picked it up from the mechanic this weekend. Went from a n/a automatic to the 1jz 5speed twinturbo and all i can say is HOLY CRAP! Anyways enough of me talking, here's the pics:

Here's what she looked like a few months ago:

Rear shot:

The 7mge engine bay (ew..):

And here's just a pic of me takin the clip for a little spin when she arrived *ahem*:

Finally it goes from this:

Into this:

Front view:

And the rear view with the sexy tanabe HM exhaust:

Mods done to the car include:

1jz/r154 (duh)
3" ypipe/dp
Some 3" performance cat
Tanabe Hyper Medallion catback
Rotora drilled/slotted rotors + performance pads
Tein Flex Coilovers + EDFC control unit (you can see she's riding quite a bit lower)
Greddy Profec B SpecII boost controller

Still trying to get used to the 5speed (first manual car -_-) but she's is a blast to drive now. The spool of the turbos (which is unmistakeably audible within the cabin) hasnt failed yet to make me giggle like a retard. Despite the rediculously huge muffler, the car is really quiet at idle and low speeds, but under wot, it has a nice roar to it (sorta like the g35/350z but quite a bit louder).

Workin on getting some vids...Enjoy!

Quite the transformation there. I've always liked the styling of the MkIII over the MKIV, thats just my personal taste though

Did you also install the coilovers while getting the new front clip installed? If so thats gotta be like night and day from going what you had before to a track ready Supra.

Looks great, just remember to drive safe. Don't take any chances.

grats on your new toy man [thumbup]

I envy you for having a Supra TT, looking forward to some video of it doing some high revs.

Yep, everything in that mods list was installed at the same time which is why the difference was so freaking huge!

The power is really good. I usually run stock boost (10psi) which is crazy as it is but when I want to mess around I crank it up to 12.5-13...breaks tires loose in 1st and 2nd

Here's a really small clip of the exhaust:

That clip really doesnt do it justice. It sounds a lot better in person...

Thanks for the comments

Nice swap that you got there!

Big pipe, but still doesnt sound like a stupid Honda ricer noise. Me likes. [thumbup]

With my 240z, just recently I have started looking at Nissan RB's engine lineup. The 2.5L does look real nice for the price. Even the 2.0L SR turbo is looking a little nice. Maybe even the VH45DE V8. [surrender]
So many choices, so hard to decide.

Gotta a lot of power there, so make sure you drive safe and make the right decisions.

I don't know what kind of engine that is -- is it a 4-cylinder? If so, that's probably the best-sounding 4-cylinder I've ever heard.

I assume that is the car they pulled the engine from, and therefor put that engine in his car....

2.5L straight 6.

And ya...we didnt weld a new whole front end onto my car, just pulled the engine and tranny from the front clip and dropped it into my car.

The rb26dett in a 240z would be so freaking quick. It would definitely give my sup (probably even at 1bar) a run for the money.

I am not sure how that would really work since the engine/tranny combo's are in a AWD config. Maybe if I could take a T56 tranny and put it with the engine, that might work.
The 4.5L V8 would be nice, but it seems like there is a lot of banging around to get it put it and a lot of custom work to get a T56 hooked up. [thumbdown]

Plus I wouldnt need as much power as your pushing as the 240z I think is a little over 1000lbs lighter to be able to give your Supra a run for its money.
