If my nose wouldn't stop bleeding I'd phone NHS direct (24 hours), they'd give me some advice - either what to do to stop it, or to go to doctor or hospital. I'd then do whatever they said, either follow their advice, see my doctor for free later that day, see the out of hours doctor at Westcall or go and get checked out at A&E.
None of which would cost me any money at that point. Not sure how it could be any better in this example. |

Of course it costs you money. In the form of relatively high taxes, in your case. In North America you'll pay less taxes, and contribute more to your own healthcare. |

Do not tilt your head back when you have a nosebleed. Do the exact opposite.
Lean your head forward and pinch your nostrils shut (hard) just below the end of the nasal bone. Hold that position for 15 minutes. If it still bleeds, see a doctor. Note: that is general nosebleed advice. If it has already been bleeding for a day, time to see the doctor regardless. |
