Hmmm I'm a little intrigued by the comments regarding the Sat Navs.
I have a 57 plate Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and a 59 plate BMW 325i SE. Both with their respective top of the range In built Sat Navs. I personally think the Audi Sat Nav is rather lacking. Both in its input and interface. However, I tend to agree with Streifenkarl that the BMW Sat Nav is good. I've never had any issues with it and it has always got me from A to B. The only thing lacking is the limited POI. But it has always found the GPS signal instantaneously for me and I really like the display - it's clarity, instructions etc. Maybe the femal voice could be a little more sexier! My brother had a Honda Civic Type S (2008) and I must admit its Sat Nav was very impressive. Only used Tom Toms upto 2007 and whilst good - didnt really find them significantly superior to the BMW Sat Nav. Having said that - I didnt really update it and maybe things have moved on quite a lot for Tom Toms over the last 4-5 yrs. |

You can't even put the coordinates on a BMW professional navigation system! Unless I'm missing something really obvious, but even google told me that. Not to mention that you can't add POI (atleast easily), set alarms for POI, select to avoid tolls, personalize the route... Yeah it is fast, but its very low on features.
From my experience the mercedes navigation system is better, from audis I have no recent experience. But either way, all worse than a decent tom tom or navigon. As for colors, silver looks good when clean and good when dirty. ![]() |

Maybe the femal voice could be a little more sexier! As far as the BMW Nav Pro goes, I stand by what I said. Maybe the TomToms have more features, but I have never missed anything when using our company BMW or my dads car (2010 BMW 530d). I dont care about points of interest (whats a typical scenario for using saved points of interest? "Oh look Harold, Mount Rushmore is right in the area, lets stop by"... And you can personalize your routes, and as far as I can remember you can select to avoid toll routes (have to check for that the next time... thing is we dont have any toll routes here yet). |

After being told I had to wait until September, I got a call last week that I could go to the dealer yesterday and pick up my new company car.
VW Polo Bluemotion 1.2 This is not a photo of mine - but mine is exactly the same colour & model ![]() Loving it so far, although the engine is a bit strange at the moment because its brand new. It had 0.5km on the clock when I drove it from the garage forecourt yesterday [thumbup] The inbuilt navigation however is complete shite, so I'll be sticking with my TomTom I think. |

I like the car, but i HATE white cars. I mean really HATE them with a passion. I don't understand why they are so trendy nowadays. One reason I did not photograph mine is after only 270km the front is already plastered with flies [rofl] |

I agree about the navigation, I have a BMW 320d and every 100€ tom tom or navigon I try is a lot better and faster than that. Since all our sales guys are too dumb to take their sat navs out when they go into meetings we have made factory fit compulsory though as they kept getting nicked. EDIT: As for white, white was last trendy in the 80's and is following the standard fashion rules of everything becoming trendy again after a skipped generation. Personally I like white on small cars or calls that look small (disguise their size well), but it looks a bit naff on X5's etc. |

In my opinion the BMW Navi Professionel is the best on the market. Its definately the fastest, the display is bright and it has all the options you might need. Never could a Tomtom reach that quality. The price is ridiculous of course, but that goes for any car company.
I hate the third party navs, as the power cable is really breaking my balls. I like it clean and tidy in my car. Since I dont have an onboard navi in my current private car I have to use a Tomtom sometimes, and it sucks. One reason for me looking at BMW for my new car is the great Navi. We have BMWs and Audis as company cars, and the BMW Navi is alot better. Just my two cents. |

I would have to agree with the opinion that most factory fitted nav systems are pretty horrendous. The BMW ones seem to get confused with location position and directions, from the times I have used them; and fail to show selected POI's but strangely enough show BMW dealerships on the map.
The best sat nav system I have used in a car was probably in a 2008 Honda Civic. I'll take a £150 Tom Tom unit anyday. |
