Yorkville has a large German community. That's the biggest one I'm especially familiar with, though there's no doubt that there others throughout the City. Back in the 1800s, a large swath of the Lower East Side was so overwhelmingly German that it was called Kleindeutschland: Little Germany.

German Community?
I know about Italian or Russian communities, but I was wondering if there is any German community in New York City? And if so, is there a way to reach them over the internet?

You'll still find a German community in the upper east side of Manhattan and all throughout Queens.

Es gibt auch eine German-American Online Community: www.germanicans.com

Look up the General Slocum disaster, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS_General_Slocum, its sad but interesting and one of the main reasons why the original "Little German" in alphabet city faded away. There is an excellent documentary about it floating around, worth watching!
