I insured my first car for £700, and that was in 2006 I think. It's unheard of for anyone in their teens to be able to do anything like this, even back then. Maybe if I passed today I'd fine things different though.
I really don't understand why you're still guessing at something that ten minutes effort could get you a definitive answer on.

--- Post Update ---

As for the insurance prices, here in Denmark they calculate it based on years of experience. Years of experience, doesn't equal how many years you've had your license. But how many years you've had a car insured in your own name.

This meant that my own brother, who got his license at 25. Payed a bit over £1350 for a low spec Peugeot 206.
To compare, I pay around £480 a year for '92 Subaru Legacy Turbo, and I've had my license since I was 18, and cars insured since then.
I started out paying around the same when I was 18 (for a old Opel Kadett 1.3S), as he did for his Peugeot at 25.
But again, that is here in Denmark.... And as a contry, we hate cars and everything they stand for
That is one of the main factors in the UK as well. It doesn't matter if you're 21 or 31, if you haven't been on the road much you're much more likely to have a collision. Think of it another way: how many times did you fall off your bike when you were learning to ride it as a kid?

We do give small discounts for being older, but the claim was that it was a majority factor in getting insurance.

I couldn't give a ****. Why would I want to waste 10 minutes of my time trying to disprove you? All I did was speak from my experience at getting cheap insurance when I was 21. I got quotes since I was 17 or 18, but didn't get a car and insurance until 21 because of the price. The only thing that changed was my age. I'm sharing my experience, not stating how insurance companies f*cking work.

I didn't think you were trying to disprove me, but it's so lazy to guess at everything you could find out on Google in ten seconds.

So on this forum we can only recite from wikipedia and google? Own experience of life does not count?

God you 2 are like bitches with their handbags out. Let me give you a fact.

They have raised the age when the "big" drop happens in your insurance life from 25 to 30. Reasoning Elephant gave me was because there are still too many younger drivers causing accidents etc and they need to go it to recoup costs. So my insurance dropped maybe 3% at 25.

I can certainly believe that because I saw naff all of a drop at 25. It made me think it was a complete myth. Maybe it still is.
