What was the score in that game with Germany? Remember, this is the country that claims to have invented football! Also, consider the general fitness level of Rooney.

I think my point remains.
Well, having a clear goal not awarded can really impact a game, no matter how professional you try to act, it will obviously have an effect on morale.

Ok, I will stop.

I understand that it is hard to be objective when someone is seeming knocking one's country; I do the same when people knock the US.

But there is no excuse for Fabio or the compensation to fitness ratio of Rooney.

Ibrahimowank should be booted off the Swedish team.
The dude just doesn't give a **** why is he even there? He stands still, jogs a bit... and when asked to cover the post, he moves away. Epic fail.

I still feel sick thinking about that Croatia game!
The Graham Taylor years were much, much worse. I still remember the **** substituting Gary Linekar in his final game, when he only needed one goal to equal Charltons record! We had the likes of Carlton Palmer playing for us, and dropping Paul Gascgoine for Gordon Cowan.... Then the embarassment of San Marino scoring against us. The final insult was getting beaten by the Dutch, damn Ronald Koeman!

He got their only goal. I would say the issue might be larger than just one player.

It was an easy one to score... but I agree with you. However, Zlatan probably earns about as much as all the other players of the team combined so you would expect him to work for it. And generally, he just couldn't be arsed to run.

ha!

BTW, does anyone know why The Netherlands is constantly referred to as Holland in this tournament? I understand that Holland is in the Netherlands, etc. But in the World Cup, this mistake was not made.

I think Holland is a better name. The Netherlands seems like it's from Peter Pan.

Talking about embarrassing, how's Greece doing, Will?

Past is past, no? How many of the 2004 winners are still in the squad? It's not as apples to oranges as you seem to make out.

Probably not many - Greece should not even be allowed in any competition right now.

But, on a similar note, how many winners are on the English National Team? You can even include Premier League if you want since Man City's best players are not even English.

I'm sure if I gave you a blank map of the UK you probably couldn't even tell me where Manchester is even on the map, just like circa 99.9% of all the other Manchester City/United supporters, or even foreigners, possibly even Brits who "follow" football. And we have quite a few City players in the national team.

The big problem with England is that we have far too many foreign players; rules should come in that each first team should have 1 youth academy player and 3 English players.

Been saying this for years expect the other way around, only 2-3 foreign players per team!

Would after a few years boost the England squad so much we would be unstoppable

Holland is the old name for The Netherlands.

Holland is still used in alot of circumstances. Also in labels of fruit/vegetables : Country of Origin: Holland.
It has to do with our Orange colour ( Oranje , Willem van Oranje the founder of The Netherlands)

I'm sure you know better than me, but I thought (and remember being told whilst in Den Haag at great length) that Holland is just one region of The Netherlands, and people not in that region don't like the name being synonymous with the whole country.
