they did this so right, it is [stevejobs]UNBELIEVABLE[/stevejobs] And you can whine all the way about how scientific it is bla bla bla no one cares, point is as any WP7 users can confirm the best way to sell it is to get people to try it and that is what this kind of advertising gets done. |

I read at wired they won/winning CES, if anyone there is a winner. Said the WinPhone booth has been packed the whole show/
the nice thing about WinOS is it is controlled by MS, not the telecoms. When MS patches, everyone's phone patches. No waiting or being told the patch is not supported by x carrier. |

Ben was beaten by an iPhone 4S and a Galaxy Nexus in races to post a photo to Twitter, while the Droid Bionic got an SMS to a friend faster than his Windows Phone. These aren't even OS related, most of these were dependent on your network's transfer speeds.
I would have lost on purpose seeing as they gave you a phone if you lost and only $100 if you won lol. |

These aren't even OS related, most of these were dependent on your network's transfer speeds. Lots of people just dismiss the Windows Phone, but it's gaining momentum and is here to stay. As for the app support, seriously? That's like the most lame argument because 98% of the apps out there are not useful. Example: ![]() |

Wonder what the challenge was exactly Actually it is to a degree. After you take a photo there is an option to immediately send it to multiple different services. I haven't used an Android or iOS phone in awhile but use a windows phone and see. ![]() |

I read at wired they won/winning CES, if anyone there is a winner. Said the WinPhone booth has been packed the whole show/ As for the challenge, you could chalk it up to a single person doing some prepared, practiced actions vs. people being put on the spot or being asked to do stuff that they might not normally do. If you were to make it a best out of 7 scenario and/or if you were to allow people to configure their phones in advance to target rapid execution of specific tasks, it'd probably be a wash. |

Why get lost in specifics?
The entire point of the 'challenge' was marketing. The point of the thread was marketing. This gimic, regardless of the nuts and bolts of it, did a good job as the op (and the thread) is about in concept. If the overwhelming majority of buyers in this specific market were as knowledgable as some here, it would have been fruitless. Good thing for MS thats not the case. This is a great piece of advertising and marketing. |

The best way to spin it is, "WP7 will have the best growth in 2012!". Which could be true- they could double their marketshare to a whole 3%. Any growth for iOS or Android isn't going to be double. |

This. There's no way you can call WP7 sales "gaining momentum". http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/g...-crashes/16279 ![]() However, it will take months before word on WP7 spreads and marketing has seeded new sales. Don't particularly like the look of the Lumia, and the lack of apps is worrying if you're coming from iOS or Android, but if Samsung's Bada lineup are still ahead in 6 months, it will look really bad on Nokia and MS. Bada is innovating and will soon be with Tizen. |
