Default Anyone into knives ?
or is it knifes ?
Anyways i´m thinking about getting myself a new fishing pocket knife and atm i´m trying to decide between a 120x folded damast Laguiole

which is about ~ 600$

or a far cheaper damast Higonokami (here a non Damast version)

for around 220 $ (the pictured one is ~50$)

What knives do you guys use/carry ?
Mine would be solely for fishing btw

It's knives. Anyways, the last thing I'd want to do is take a six hundred dollar knife fishing. More specifically, I wouldn't take a Damascus steeled knife out fishing. Personally, if I were you - I'd look into Spyderco's Salt series, or Benchmade's new 111H2O blade.

If you're into the "pen knife" look, I'd check out this or this.

Gerber Knives can't be beat for all around utility. I carried a Gerber Mark 2 the whole time I was in the U.S.Army. It served me faithfully and I never had a problem with it.

Same as i like all my gerbers and probably the gerber multi-tool is the best. But i got lazy i got a micro leatherman mutli-tool for my pocket and keep it all the time on me.

I'd never spend that much on something I'd drop in the water within 10 minutes

I have a Gerber Suspension -

Love it, excellent for work, camping etc.

Where i live fishing from a boat isn´t allowed, so i won´t have any problems loosing it.
Having that said, 300€ may sound like alot for a knife, but it really isn´t if you know to value great craftsmanship.

there are heaps of cheapish fishing knives available, floatation handled, with lanyards and SS blades - get one of those.
Also, in many countries, knives are classes as weapons and there are laws regarding types and lengths,

Maybe something here?

You need a Ka-Bar! then you're hardcore. I bet OHP has like 50 of them under his gillie suit.

Why would you need such an expensive tool for fishing? What's the difference? I bet €30 knives are just as sharp

Are you sure? I thought up to 3" or 4" blade was allowed as long as you had a reason for carrying it.

Yup, don't matter about the size, if it's a lock knife then it's illegal. You get caught with one you'll have to go to court etc. (3/4" is ok if it's not a lock knife and you have good reason)

I had a good reason why I needed one (Use it for some fishing, and audio (cutting wires) But still got hefty fine.

I need someone to educate me cause I cannot find a clear answer on google. Is damast same as/similar to damascus?

Anways I have serveral swords, knives of various qualities. But for day to day... I carry a Smith and Wesson Swat with a partial serration. I have been looking into spending ~$300 for a quality Cold Steel knife. I prefer a tactical look and design for a carry knife.
