Default Golfing without a glove
Alright, I'm sure this has been discussed numerous times on this board but I haven't found anything recently.

So, it was ungodly hot today. The heat index was 100+. I was striking the ball well for the first five holes but felt like I had no control. Honestly, I wasn't really sweating badly or anything but I just had no feel with my clubs.

I then took my glove off. Now, I normally don't wear my glove from about 100 yards and in but I took it off for everything - drives, hybrids, long irons, etc. I was hitting the ball as well as I ever have. I was crushing my 5 wood and hitting my long irons as well as I possibly could. I just felt like I had great control over my shots without a glove on - driver included.

Does anyone here not golf with a glove? I shot my career best round today without a glove and am seriously considering playing without one for the near future. I'd love to hear what other people think about using a glove.

I olny use my glove if im putting a full swing on a club. Other than that ill take it off because i feel i have better control and feel with the slower swings and also dont require the added grip

Hand raised, I rarely use a golve, in fact the only time I use them is when the humidity is so high it makes the grips slippery in my hands. I will swap out the gloves every other shot to keep them dry. It has to be very hot and very humid. Last week I played 4 rounds at Myrtle Beach (90+ temps with a 100+ heat index) and did not use a glove at all. I use the Golf Pride G2 grips and keep them clean and dry with a towel and as I said it is very rare that I use a golf glove.

I used to play without a glove but found that when its really humid or when really hot that my grips would get moisture on them and without a glove the club would slip more and be harder to control.

i use a glove always because the club slips in my hands to much without one even with cord grips. never for shots 50 yards or in and putting. but those are more feel shots anyway.

I have to wear a glove with my sweaty hands. The other day, I was in the yard swinging my dad's club, and I threw it over a fence into the neighbor's yard. And they have brand new grips on them. This was the first and last time I will ever take a full swing without a glove on.

I normally wear a glove when I play unless I forgot it at home which happens occasionally. I don't use one when I am chipping and I can't really tell you why I don't except I think it feels more comfortable for me. I know when it is as hot and humid as its been here lately my grips get much tackier then when its cooler or just less humid.

I wear gloves while I'm playing, especially when it's hot like everyone said but I don't really wear a glove when I practice, especially chipping and putting. I like to chip without a club because it gives me a better feel.

I never wear gloves for a few reasons.

I learned to play golf when I was in High School and I couldn't afford gloves back then let alone balls or green fees. Plus I grew up right on the coast of northern California. Everything in the morning is covered in dew and the grip kept slipping out of my hand when I used a glove. Now going no glove is natural to me.

Edit: Remember to wash your hands after a round though......

I never ever wear a glove. I started out that way when I was young and never really gave it a second thought. I've tried it out to just to see and I can't get over the weird feeling. I like the feeling of the grip in both hands.

I have a glove and never take it out of my bag.

maybe it could be a contributing factor to my poor play.

Hmmmm, very interesting to see a lot of people that do not use a glove. Honestly, it was so hot today and I still felt super comfortable without a glove so that may be an even better thing. Of course, it could purely be a coincidence but I'm certainly going to play without a glove for my next round as well.

I'm the super minority in this subject... I wear two gloves for every shot.

I have gone thru 2 gloves already this year. A pooh pooh and today a Callaway. I have a new Footjoy in the bag but I have to have a glove, way to much humidity here in Virginia.

Normally no. If I'm sweating or if it's raining yes. I'm sure a glove helps but I just hate the feeling of them when not actually hitting the ball, and the hassle of putting them on and off all day.
