Default Taylor Hicks - The New American Idol
Wow. All I can say is wow. Not that Im surprised that he won, its just he isnt the typical american idol. He seems like a good guy, definitely deserving, and the best part is that he actually has a real passion for music.

BTW, the finale was great...hilarious, sad, everything. UB's boy prince was there too to close it out with the guests.

Seriously though.. Taylor Hicks looks like he's a middle aged man. While Kat looks like a god damn supermodel.

Teen-idol my ass crack.

The whole thing is rigged, and I do not understand why people watch this show.

Its not rigged, people like Taylors passion for music, which is why he won. To me, Elliott had the best voice, and was my favorite, but the way Taylor performed allowed him to win the competition

exactly...Taylor and Chris were the only ones that made you feel as if you were at a concert, the rest even though most were really good, felt more like star search.

Yes! Usually my "favorite" contestants from day one only reach the top five on Idol, but Taylor is my first to win it all. The show is definitely not fixed though. Some people don't like the show, but you can't say it's crap when it gets the highest ratings on television.
Lol.. well a large percentage of the shows that get the highest ratings are CRAP in my oppinion. Dancing with the Stars, Skating with the Stars, American Idol are all jokes. And its baaahuuull shit.

Rockstar... now there's a show.

The people of American Idol decided a guy would win this year at the start, I remember watching the first two episodes of the season and the black host said that "this year would be a boy year, he could feel it."

I don't think this show is rigged. It's just really, really sad. I can't believe more people voted for this shit than they did in any presidential election this country has ever had. It may be the higest rated show, but it is among the worst. I won't flat out say it's THE worst because of how much other crap there is on TV (but hey, it might be), but since it's the one that gets shoved down my throat so much I'll vent a little. I honestly don't get what the appeal is. I have a theory as to why this show (and sucessful reality shows) are so popular, but it's kind of harsh. This Hicks guy will be lucky to even go platinum. Pop music is one of the least talented kinds of music around (for the most part). 44 million people... un-fucking-believable. I can't get over that... a show that takes no brains to come up with and features a bunch of talent-less fools (ok, so they were lucky to have nice voices).

I'm just hoping that in 10 years I'll be watching "I love the 00's" on VH1 and listen to everyone talk about how dumb they feel for liking AI back in the day. Just wait, once everyone gets tired of Simon this show will fall hard.

well...you do know that each person can dial in as many times as they want in the 2 or so hours the lines are open. Voting for the pres...you only get 1 vote.

The "more voting for than the president" concept is overrated for two reasons:

-On AI, one person can cast hundreds of votes.
-On AI, people can vote via the telephone or by text message, which is 100 times more convienant than going to a voting booth.

If people had to drive to a voting booth and make one vote for Idol, it wouldn't even be CLOSE to the presidential votes.
dude ur right... i never even looked at it like that.

anyways, i knew taylor hicks was gonna win just cuz he has gray hair. it had nothin to do with his voice. don't get me wrong, i mean, he is a talented singer, but nowhere near as good as some other people that were originally on there.

Those are nice sentiments, but considering that every winner of American Idol has garnered major music nominations and awards, I don't think you really have any clue what you're talking about.

First off, if it took no brains to come up with the idea of the show, why didn't you? Second, if they were a bunch of talentless fools, then how'd they get on the show. It does require you to get past the screening proccess and display some talent. Oh, but you say they have nice voices. Well, what other talent are you expected to have in a singing competition?

You sound like someone who doesn't like the show because you don't like the fact that somebody with guts and talent can get on the show and succeed while you sit on your ass and play video games all day.

I've upset the AI fans.

I'll give you Kelly Clarkson, but I haven't heard much of anything from the others. I've forgotten who some of them are even. But that's not the real point.

I hate the show because like I said, it takes so little talent to have come up with the idea. Why didn't I come up with it? Because it's shit. I've got ideas, but I'm just a 19 year old living in NY with no connections. It pisses me off because there's no way to avoid the hype around it. No matter where I go or what I do, I have to hear about it. So that's why I'm venting my anger towards the show. Not because I dream of impressing a smart ass guy with a British accent and being worshipped. Seriously, how hard was it to come up with this show? I can imagine....

Creator #1- How about we have a singing competition to find the next pop star?

Creator #2- Great idea, but it's missing something...

Creator #1- A snoody guy with a British accent who will brutally insult people! And we can get some of the very worst singers and bring them in front of this guy so the whole country can laugh as they get their dreams crushed!

Creator #2- Brilliant!

yeah it was the hair....lol

i think it was because he had a fun personality, and he is an actual musician...he can play guitar and harmonica... hardly any of the idols can do anything but sing. he was a music man.

Well Chris is still goin to be more famous then taylor. I find it funny that daughtery was rejected for Rockstar INXS but thrived on AI. He was offered the Fuel job, but i think he turned it down, but he'll probably tour with live or someone like that and do just fine, while taylor will probably be like Ruben and be one and done.

yeah more people will remember chris. taylor will be just like ruben. isn't it funny how more people like clay aiken than ruben? and whats even more funny is that they had clay aiken on the final show, not ruben or that carrie person or fantasia. yeah yeah i know they had clay on their because there was that look-a-like guy who performed and the producers wanted to surprise him, but he was still on there before any of the past winners. it just goes to show that you can win and have nothing to back it up. there's really only been two people that have gotten famous, and that is kelly clarkson, and maybe clay aiken. clay is famous, but nowhere near as famous as kelly.

rockstar turned down Chris? and Chris turned down the job with fuel!?? damn...he would of been perfect for them...i loved fuel. But i agree...Chris might end up being bigger then Kelly Clarkson if he doesnt have to sit and do idol songs for the next 5 years.

Carrie Underwood was on that show....twice...she sang with the two finalists(first song on the show), and performed her single. She just got two awards from something i forget...but she is doing really well. Clay actually outsold ruben when they both made their first debut single. I just dont think Idol is a black thing....Fantasia and Ruben where are they? But i can see Taylor being lost and forgotten while Chris and Kat go on to have big careers.

yeah if you look on chris daughtery's profile on Wikipedia it mentions something about him not making it on Rockstar, and i guess he cited family reasons for not taking the fuel job, even though he is perfect for it, he sings hemmorage just like the old singer, its insane.
