Default 24: The Movie
Credit ign filmforce:

June 8, 2006 - 24, FOX's famed real-time action-thriller series, is coming to the big screen! A Variety report reveals that 20th Century Fox and the show's producers have reached a tentative deal to adapt the series into a feature film. The 24 movie, like the small-screen version, is expected to follow the exploits of Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer who projects the United States from whoever threatens it. While star Kiefer Sutherland has expressed interest in doing a movie version of the show, the trade adds that no agreements have been reached with any members of the cast.

A rough outline of the plot may already have been written, but it is of course being kept heavily under wraps. Instead of the story taking place over the movie's approximately 2-hour running time, the paper says that the film will likely abandon the show's unique real-time storytelling approach. Series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow will pen the screenplay with executive producer Howard Gordon working on the story.

We expect fans to feverishly anticipate this one... so, what kind of timeframe are we looking at? It's possible that the feature could lens as early as next spring/summer in between shooting the sixth and possible seventh seasons of the show. It's easy to envision the sixth season finale providing a adrenaline-charged setup for the film.

Stay tuned for more on the 24 movie. And check out IGN TV for more on 24, the show, including a comprehensive look at the recently-wrapped fifth season.
Well its been rumored for a while now, and now its official...I am definitely looking forward to this movie, and it is definitely interesting to see how the movie plays out, especially with the difference in time frame. All i can say is that i probably have not been this excited about a movie in a very long time. Whats your guys' thoughts on what should be a steller movie?

Doesn't work as a movie. Without the real-time concept its just another generic action movie. Not looking forward to it.

I know its goin to be kinda dumb since they gotta condense a 24 hour time frame from the show into like a 2 hour time frame for a movie, but im just banking on a good story to save it. Im still pretty exicted about it, but im just hoping they can pull it off.

Haha, you beat me to it, Stan...I....I...

Ok, there we go...

Heh, anyway, as a hardcore fan of the series I am on one hand disappointed it wouldn't be in real time, but on the other hand I'm excited because if the real time was the ONLY thing that was cool about this show, then the show wouldn't have lasted this long. The writing is amazing, as well as the acting. I'll support it 10000%. Hell, I even bought the 24 video game...and liked it!

I've never really gotten into the show (I know, but one day I'll probably rent the first disc of the first season, watch it, and then go out and buy the whole series leaving myself with an empty pocket ), but the idea for a movie is interesting. If the show really is as good as everyone says it is, the writers won't have trouble making a great movie. If it sucks, it just proves that the show lives off of a cheesy gimmick. Sure I've never watched the show, but there has to be something more than the real time thing for it to be this popular this long... since it's not a reality show.

24 is my favorite show currently and i'm just hoping this movie isn't gonna suck. the greatest thing about 24 is the amount of suspense within each hour and i just don't think they can put that much suspense into a 2 hr. movie. hopefully it would still be a good movie

I didn't like the idea when I heard it initially. I warmed to it after seeing the end of season 5 and the possibility of them playing off that ending but since it is going to be done for after season 6 then I'm back to not liking it.

They need to just drop this whole terrorist B.S, it is really getting annoying - that is why season 4 was a lot poorer than past seasons. Season 5 did well with the conspiracy plot.

The movie about Jack being in China would of been really good and a big break from OMG LIEK THERES A BOMB IN L.A!

I will see the film anyway since I love 24 but having it after season 5 would be perfect, especially after the ending

I'm not for or against really, it won't have the novelty factor of the TV show but then it'll probably be an enjoyable enough action movie anyway, so...

I mean over the top terrorist stuff, there's only so many times you can sit through Jack chasing terrosits from one place to the next til the end.

Season 1 was simple and effective, I want them to do something like that again.

Holy shit Batman, someone with logic at GR! >_>

Season 5 is brilliant (Refuse to download the episodes so watching them week by week, more exciting anyway. ) with the vast plot, really clever, I hear the ending is a huge cliffhanger too.

As much as I loved the first couple of seasons, and almost liked the third, I can't see how this will work. It's painfully obvious in season 4, and what I've seen of season 5 that they're all out of ideas already... it's the same shit recycled over and over again... the only thing the last couple of seasons had going for them was the real time gimmick, and considering the movie won't have that, what we're left with is dull characters, recycled plots and loads and loads of bullshit techno talk. I'm not looking forward to this one.

But hey, since it's not real time, maybe poor old Jack will be allowed to take a piss once in a while.
