I'd prefer to see somebody like Willis in the role too, but Diesel should be ok. I just hope they don't make him some cocky badass to make it more "viewer-friendly", I liked him the clinical killer. He didn't need a reason to be, it's just what he was

Vin Diesel will star as Agent 47 in 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of Hitman, the best-selling video game franchise from Eidos and developer IO Interactive.

Diesel also will serve as executive producer. Charles Gordon and Adrian Askarieh are producing through their respective companies, Daybreak Productions and Prime Universe Productions. Daniel Alter will co-produce.

The game's story centers on an international assassin known as Agent 47 who works for a mysterious organization dubbed the Agency. The first three games in the franchise have sold more than 10 million units. Eidos plans to release another sequel, "Hitman: Blood Money," this fall.

"'Hitman' is a project that by the virtue of its DNA can and will reach far beyond its already substantial core audience," Askarieh said. "The canvas on which this adventure takes place is something that movie audiences have embraced for the last 40 years. We obviously are delighted to have Vin Diesel on board, too -- he and Agent 47 are a match made in heaven."

Thoughts/Comments: Liked the game, should like the movie. Good choice for the part, though.

I'm hoping this is a good movie, good chance of watching it.

Meh. Vin Diesel is a crap actor, and this movie has "bland, out of place action (apart from the game's stealth gameplay) and promoted like crazy on MTV" all over it.

I like this casting. Should be a great movie as long as they stick to the tone of the games. There's also an article at IGN that says since Vin Diesel is such a huge gamer himself, that he'll be lending his likness and voice to a Hitman game that will be released along with the movie (probably a game after Blood Money).

I'm not completely sure (as much a fan of the character/ games as I am) how good it'll be. Diesel's bland acting shouldn't be too badly exposed if they keep it how it should be.

I'm not a Vin Diesel fan by any means but I love assassin movies, and if the story line kicks then not even Diesel's name on the monicker will disuade me. Has anyone heard anything along the lines of a plot?
