Knoxville & Scott are The Dukes Of Hazzard Source: People.com, ComingSoon.net Warner Bros. Pictures has found its Dukes! Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott have just been cast, respectively, as Luke and Bo Duke, in the big-screen adaptation of CBS' 1979-85 The Dukes of Hazzard TV series, People reports in its latest issue. The magazine says that the studio still hasn't found someone to fill the role of Daisy Duke, but Jessica Simpson apparently remains the frontrunner for the cousin played on TV by Catherine Bach. As for Boss Hogg, the villain played on the show by Sorrell Booke, the studio is leaning toward Burt Reynolds. The Dukes of Hazzard follows the adventures of cousins Bo Duke (played by John Schneider) and Luke Duke (played by Tom Wopat), and their curvaceous cousing Daisy Duke, as they cavort around the small town of Hazzard County in the hills of Georgia. The Dukes' Uncle Jesse, formerly the moonshine runner in Hazzard County, makes a deal with the government to stop the family trade in exchange for keeping the family out of jail. Nevertheless, the Dukes have a knack for getting into trouble, which usually involve run-ins with the crooked county boss, Boss Hogg and the town sherriff, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Warner Bros. Remaking Hawaii Five-O Source: Variety, ComingSoon.net Warner Bros. has acquired remake rights to Hawaii Five-O, with Ocean's Twelve screenwriter George Nolfi set to write the script, reports Variety. George Litto, who was the agent of series creator Leonard Freeman, will produce the film. With its lush Oahu setting, popular theme song and signature lead detective character Steve McGarrett (played by Jack Lord), Hawaii Five-O is perhaps the most remake-friendly TV series not previously under studio control, says the trade. CBS broadcast the series from 1968 to 1980. Nolfi has begun writing and filming is expected to start next Spring in Oahu for an early Summer 2006 release. There is even a time schedule for sequels. Nolfi is reportedly sticking close to the original "Five-O" series plot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Richard Linklater Helming Bad News Bears Source: Variety, ComingSoon.net Paramount has hired director Richard Linklater (School of Rock) to helm The Bad News Bears with Billy Bob Thornton starring. The new version reteams Thornton with Bad Santa writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. The project is a contemporary remake of Paramount's 1976 comedy, which starred Tatum O'Neal as the pitcher and Walter Matthau as the manager of a team of misfits in an ultra-competitive Little League. Variety says the comedy is moving into 11 weeks of pre-production with filming expected to begin in late November for a 2005 release. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Well, first off, I'm not too sure about the decision for the Dukes Of Hazzard casting. But, you never know, it could be the right decision. Never really watched Hawaii Five-O. This should be interesting with Billy Bob Thorton to star in a remake of The Bad News Bears. Just wondering if the combination of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa with Linklater is going to work or not. Hey, it could happen. |
