My parents arnt rich but we own 2 horses at some nearby ranch, thats nmot rly rich, but benig able to ride like 3 times a week for 10 years enabled me to get that skill up easily. I immediately picked up trampoleening at some play group thing when i was young and progressed from their quite alot, went to club for a bit etc. Snowboarding i been doing only 5 years, but coz i live in Uk only like twice a year max, but im good enough to be fully competent e.g ride over all terrians and do snow parks, take part in small comps etc.
Motercycling was harder, took up shitty amounts of time, as did driving, all I did for those was go to track meets ALOT, I still dontn own a motercycle so I borrowed those who went their. Scuba diving to get the licence cost about 300 quid. Martials arts was just a matter of going to a club once a week, overall not including horse riding its cost my parents, like 6 grand, but nearly all of that is holidays over my whole lifetime. Acting was piss easy to get in being an extra, but with no stage school of theatre school background, your gonna have a massive struggle, coz no matter how good you are ppl who ve been trained like that always get preference. if anything my way was the hard way, i broke into a business without parents consent which ive trained for for nearly 9 fucking years, ive been in bad wrecks (although oddly ive never broken a bone in my body) touch wood. The only advantage I have over anyone would be horse riding, but that was optional, anyone can learn a martial art or trampoleening or driving cars etc, you just gotta watch and learn, I would tn say ive had a hard life, but i say my choice of profession is really one of the hardest to get into. So good luck neway YA DIg! |
Finding acting work
I'm trying to get into acting so I'm looking on the web for places that hold auditions, but I can't find anything at all. The jobs I come across are for adults entering their thirties which is way older than I am. The bottom line is I need help with finding a trustworthy agency that gives young adults work, so if anybody here knows any websites/phone numbers/addresses please post them here or send them to me via PM.

Hey wassup man. I am also like you too. I wanted to be an actor as well, but I can't find no acting jobs sites anywhere too. I am trying to sign for that Real World casting call (I am 21 yr old). I haven't send in a tape yet, but I will soon, and from there MTV can help me find acting jobs if I still work in the acting business, which I still do. That is my dream job to be actor. I am going to mail that tape to Real World casting call next week (if I am not to busy that is). I am hoping that they choose me though, but if anyone can find a sites (acting jobs) please let us know ok ( King Of All Blacks and Me). Peace I'm out!

a lot of that would depend on where you are and how active the acting community is. I'm in Massachusetts and we have a massachusetts film bureau which has a web site that always lists casting calls. Actors bring a head shot/resume with them and basically try out for roles. Massachusetts isn't exactly a hot spot but there are a lot of venues for aspiring thespians.
Your best bet is trying to connect with otheractors in the area and pick their minds. You may see if there are any colleges that have libral arts/media concentrations as they always seem to be connected with various performing art groups that might give you some leads. The internet might offer some state run "film bureaus" in your state that might be very helpful. I wouldn't worry about an agent. They probably only want to get some cash out of you and promise you work and will do nothing for you. A quick side note acting is pretty tough to get into as there are lots of people who want to do it and not a lot of availables roles. I always found it easier just to make my own movie which I did and marketed--without a whole hell of a lot of sucess BTW--than to get lucky and find a role in a movie. Good luck. |
Hey thx man. Acting is my dream ever since middle school. Man, I wish my parents were rich so I can just break into the business so easily, but it can't happen that way. I got to do it the hard then I will. My dream will NEVER DIE at all trust me on this one. Thx again man. Peace I'm out!

As ive said before, I work in England as a Junior Stuntman (que the laughs) Yes Junior as im only 20. It may seem like bullshit, but believe me it was easy as fuck to do. I had to join the United Kingdom stuntman equity register, which is essentually a register where stuntmen register, equity is a UK group that handles like a union all Acting issues. To get on the register I had to have had 40+ hours in front or behind a camera, and then gain complete competence in 5 certain areas mine being:
Motorbikes+ Car Driving (essentual) High Falls: I did trampoleening. Snowboarding Martial Arts: I did Judo Horseriding: Learnt as my family owns horses. Also I have a padi scuba licence. The expected cost is around 20,000 to get on the register but Ive managed it and it cost me far less, as ive been able to do nearly all these sports from home easily (part from cars+martial arts. My advice is start young as an extra, I was able to get small extra jobs piss easily thats how I got my 40+ hours done. Apply to agents who cast for extra roles, most film stars are found in extra roles, once in the role, talk to everyone their, make friends with as many ppl as possible and generally be prepared to suck ass. theirs a website called www.theknowledgeonline.com cannot remember exact spelling, but if u register u gain access to thousands of casting companies and film companies, so that might help. The acting business is a strange one, I enjoy it as most of the time im doing what I love, stuntwork and nearly gaining access to the full acting equity register, (enabling me to excellent life insurance). I have done stuntwork and acted in those highlighted with a * as an extra, for these UK productions: Londons Burning* Soldier Soldier Casualty* Byker Grove Grange Hill I have only done stuntwork in the USA for a short stint of 4 months, working on an Independent Film, which was never released, but was called 'He Watches' crappy, low class terrible budget movie, which I was paid 2000 us dollers for a 1 month job, acting as stunt performer and actor. Acting can be fun but be prepared for alot of ass kissing and nearly everyone I met for some reason, (maybe coz I was in UK was trained in theatre or classical acting or went to stage school) without going to one of those you've pretty much got shit all chance tbh. My advice? Join stage school or a drama class, work your ass off doing everything you can, that means behind the scenes where possible etc, then when you've got the blessings of your mentors, sign up to a decent agency with good reputation, then let them take you places, believe me though, it aint all premieres and hot women, some of it sucks ass...but hey dont give up the dream and one day maybe ill be ur stunt double.... good luck and remember, as Mick Foley once said, 'be nice to the people on the way up, coz their the ppl your gonna meet on the way down' YA DIG! |
