Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
Not sure if there's already been a post but nonetheless: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'un. The great scholar of Islam Sheikh Umar Suleiman al Ashqar passed away today. He was of a huge benefit to this ummah through his books and da'wah. May Allah shower him with his mercy and raise his rank amongst the prophets and martyrs. Sh. Abu Muntasir (JIMAS) commented: "The only scholar that Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ismai'l al-Muqaddam would recommend to me, when I was in Egypt to visit him, was that I should have the benefit of meeting Shaikh Umar Suleiman al-Ashqar (rahimahullah) in Jordan, when I subsequently visited Shaikh al-Albani (rahimahullah) and met with both him and many of his students. I was advised to meet Shaikh Umar (rahimahullah) even if for a moment, to see what was the closest that one could experience of a living companion of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam)! May Allah grant him the highest place in Paradise." Personally, I benefited immensely from his books on Aqeedah (although they are at variance with the Ash'aris on some occasions). May Allah have mercy on him. |
