Default To The Respected Sisters on Sunni Forum
Bismihi Ta’ala

As-Salaamu ‘alaykum waRahmatullah waBarakaatuhu

Hope this post finds all in the best of conditions, Insha-Allah.

Alhamdulillah, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb’s discourses on marriage over the last 3 Saturdays and Masha-Allah, the advice is par excellent. Besides the experience Mufti Saheb has in dealing with marital problems, Mufti Ibrahim Desai’s mastery over Ahaadeeth and the superb manner in presenting incidents from the lives of the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (RA) deeply impacts the heart.

I hope that women all over the world benefit from the wonderful, brilliant and wise advice that Mufti Saheb has so kindly conveyed to us in the last 3 weeks. And would really like the sisters on Sunni Forum to take the time to listen to these programmes and share them with many, many others. I see it as beautiful guidance to a successful and happy marriage, and wise counsel for those whose marriages are in troubled waters. The talks will benefit both those who are married and those unmarried.

May Allah Ta’ala reward Mufti Desai for giving us the time and offering us very enriching lessons as well as inspiration to be better Muslimahs.

The following are the links for the first two sessions.

Session 1

Identify your marital problems

Posted by Admin on May - 19 - 2012

On Saturday –May 19, 2012, Hazrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb commenced a special series of discourses on Marital problems &solutions at Rockdale Muaadh Ibn Jabal Jamaat Khana,Westville-Durban.

Alhamdulillah, the gathering was very well attended and the women appreciated every bit of the advises.
Hazrat stated that he has 18 years of experience with marriage related issues and he felt the information he has is a trust and he had to share the experiences so that:

1. 1.Broken marriages can be made up.
2. 2.Stabilize troubled marriages.
3. 3.Bring prosperity in happy marriages.
4. 4.Serve as an eye opener for the unmarried.

Hazrat commenced his talk by expounding on the power of the union between the husband and wife. Billions of human beings are the consequence of just one couple,Adam (Alayhis Salaam) and Hawa (Alayhas Salaam).

You too are special and could be a mother of a nation.Dont look at yourself as just one person. You are a foundation of a future unknown nation.
Mufti Saheb further stated that a troubled marriage comes with grief, depression and even leads one to question the decree of Allah (azza wajal).

He expounded on some examples of marital disputes referred to in Al Quran and Hadith.Rasulullah Sallallāhu Alayhi Wasallam and the sahabah were human beings. They lived family lives and also experienced challenges in their family lives. We study their challenges and seek solutions from their experiences.

The purpose of marriage is Sukoon(peace). The two arms of which are-Love and compassion.

Mufti Saheb further explained that a Human being is a composition of opposites.

• ~The right eye and left eye.
• ~The right ear and left ear.
• ~The head on top and the feet at the bottom.

But there is a unique co-operation between these opposites. When the right eye is sore, the left eye takes the strain. When the foot is sore, the head feels the discomfort.

Similarly, how can there be cooperation between two opposites-Male(Husband) and Female(Wife) who hail from different families and diverse backgrounds?

Every two things put together need an agent.
Two bricks need cement.
Two papers need glue.
What can cement and glue the husband and wife? All these issues are covered in the talk.

Session 2

Identify your marital problems

Posted by Admin on May - 26 - 2012

On Saturday, May 26th, 2012 Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Sahib conducted the second session on marriage related problems. He expounded that marriage is a commitment and a solemn promise for a lifelong relationship. He urged women to approach marital obligations carefully and with due diligence. Bricks put together make a house. Hearts put together make a home. Bricks separated break a house. Broken hearts break a home.

There are certain things that are Fardh (compulsory) to do in a marriage and certain things which are Harām (prohibited) in a marriage.
Hadhrat Mufti Sahib elaborated on two important issues:

1) Know the temperament of your husband and adjust accordingly. His heart is like a battery with power and life in it.You need to extract that hidden love from him.

2) Express love for your husband to the extent that he believes you truly love him.

Love begets love.

Mufti Saheb then presented beautiful examples of how Sayyidah Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha expresses her love for Rasulullah Sallallāhu Alayhi Wasallam.

And discussed the consequences of not knowing your husband and not showing him love...

Session 3

Identify Your Marital Problems

Posted by Admin on Jun - 3 - 2012

Hazrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb commenced the program by acknowledging that many loyal and dedicated women do become victims of irresponsible husbands. He pointed out in the light of Hadeeth that a woman is like a glass, thin and delicate. She should be handled with care.

Mufti Saheb then highlighted 5 areas of concern:

1) Make your husband’s house your home.

2) Don’t welcome him with a barrage of complains. The incident about Hazrat Umm Sulaim(radi Allahu anha) was captivating.

3) Serve your husband. Fulfill his biological need. Not doing so is a major sin.

4) In an argument one should back down. A string will snap if both sides pull. Never be stubborn.

5) You belong to your husband-make proper Hijab.

Each one of the above points was discussed in much detail with real life incidents.

The lecture concluded with a beautiful marriage recipe and a Dua.
