Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah,

To start things off, please listen to this recitation of the last few verses of Surah Fajr by Shaykh Minshawi rahimahullah.

It was only 1 minute long but subhanAllah, when I listened to it, my soul felt like flying out of my body and my heart became constricted.

It made me realise that I don't reflect enough about the Day of Judgement and that I am not preparing enough for it. I think this issue extends to all our communities. We love having debates about salafism vs. sufism, this Shaykh, that Shaykh and this hardens our hearts. So even when we listen to exhortations about the Day, we are not moved as we should be.

My purpose in opening this thread is to remind myself and others about the Great Day on a regular basis inshaAllah. I ask from Allah protection from riyaa' and I ask Allah to accept this effort.

1st post:

When the number of the dead is complete, and the heavens and earth have become empty, devoid of inhabitants, and they become still after they have been in motion, there will be nothing to be heard and there will be no one to be seen. Then the Compeller, the Most High, will remain as He has always been, Eternal, One, Unique in His Might and Majesty.

Then your soul will be startled by the cry of the caller, calling all of creation as well as you to stand before Allah with utter humility and submission. Imagine how this call will sound to you, what effect it will have on you when you realise that you are being called to stand before the Sovereign, the Most High. So your heart will sink and your hair will turn grey in response to this call, because it will be one call to appear before the Owner of Majesty and Honour, of Might and Pride.

Whilst you will be filled with terror at the voice, you will hear the earth opening up above your head, so you will leap up, covered with dust from head to toe, standing on your feet in the gloom of your grave, staring in the direction of this call. All created beings will have gotten up when you did, covered with the dust of the earth in which they have been disintegrating for so long.

And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided. [2:48]

The disbeliever will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, 'Do you think that if you had an earth full of gold that you would be able to ransom yourself with it?' He will say, 'Yes'. It will be said to him, 'I used to ask you for less than that'" [Bukhari]

Continuing from last week - 2nd Post:

Imagine when they all start moving about in terror, all of them equally filled with fear. Imagine yourself, naked and humiliated, alone with your fear, grief and distress in the crowd of created beings, all of them naked, barefoot and silent. You can hear nothing but the sounds of their footsteps and the voice of the caller. Everyone will be turning towards Him, and you will be one of them, turning towards his voice, running with fear and humility until you reach the place of gathering, crowded with all the nations of jinn and humans, naked and barefoot. All sovereignty will have been taken away from the kings of the eath, and they will be humbled and brought low; they will be the most humiliated of all those present, and the lowest in status, after they had been so proud and arrogant towards the slaves of Allah on earth. And fear the Day when ye shall be brought back to God. Then shall every soul be paid what it earned, and none shall be dealt with unjustly [2:281]

The Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: “The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Judgment until he has been questioned about four things): his life - how he spent it, his knowledge - how he acted upon it, his wealth - where he earned it and how he spent it, and his body - how he used it.” (Tirmidhi, Kitab sifat al Qiyamah wal Raqa’iq)

Continuing from last week - 3rd Post:

Then the animals will be brought forth from the fields and mountaintops, hanging their heads in humiliation on the Day of Resurrection after being powerful and vicious and proud. They will be humbled on the Day of Resurrection without having done anything wrong or committed any sin. Imagine how humiliated they will be on this great Day, the Day of Resurrection.

After being so powerful and savage, the wild animals will come hanging their heads in humility on the Day of Resurrection, until they stand humbly behind mankind, submitting themselves to the Sovereign, The Compeller. And the shayateen (jinns/devils) will come, after being so stubborn and rebellious, fearing the judgement of Allah. Glory be to the One who will gather them all despite all of their different types and natures. The resurrection will humble them all and bring them all together.

4th post:

Then when the number of inhabitants of the earth will be completed – human, jinns, devils, wild animals, cattle and other beasts – and they all will be gathered together in the place of reckoning, the stars will fall from above them and the sun and the moon will be extinguished, and the earth will become dark because its light will be snuffed out. Whilst you and all other creatures will be in that state, the first heaven, despite its great size, will start to rotate above your heads, and you will see the horror of that with your own eyes. Then it will split, even though its thickness is as the distance of a five hundred year journey, and how terrible its cracking will sound in your ears. Then it will be torn apart with the greatest horror that will come on the Day of Resurrection, with the angels standing on its sides, i.e., on the edges of its split. Imagine how terrible it will be when the heaven is rent asunder despite its immense size, then its Lord will cause it to melt like molten silver mixed with yellow because of the terror of that day as Allah says:

When the sky is torn apart and turns crimson, like red hide. Which, then, of your Lord’s blessing will you both deny? [55:41-42]

The disbelievers think it is distant, but We know it to be close. On a Day when the heavens will be like molten brass and mountains like tufts of wool, when no friend will ask about his friend, even when they are within sight of one another. The guilty person will wish he could save himself from the suffering of that Day by sacrificing his sons, his spouse, his brother, the kinsfolk who gave him shelter, and everyone on earth, if it could save him. [70:8-14]
