How come?

Saudi started fasting one day earlier than SA.
So when they complete 30 days, SA will "still" be at 29th. And both are most likely going to have 'Id on Sunday.
I can't see how can SA have 'Id before Saudi.

Salaam. MashaAllah. How is this possible though??? If anything, the moon would have been seen in Saudi and not Waziristan.

This may be the last day of Ramadan here in New York. If the moon is sighted, that is.

And only for those who started fasting on Friday. For those who started fasting on Saturday, today (Saturday, Aug. 18th) is still the 29th fast left to go at the minimum.

Insha'Allah we can have one Eid on Sunday for everybody.

The Claremont Road musjid in Cape Town will be having Eid today, Saturday 17 August 2012 based on astronomical calculations. More on their website, just search Claremont Road Musjid Cape Town.

They strangely delay Eid salaat to Sunday though which is confusing to say the least.

For those of us in North America, here are a few sites that might be useful:

According to FCNA (using the astronomical calculation method): "On the basis of that Eidul Fitr for the year 1433 AH is established as follows: 1st of Shawwal will be on Sunday, August 19, 2012."

According to the Hilal Committee of Metropolitan Toronto and Vicinity (using the hilal sighting method): "Information for Eid will be posted here on Saturday 18 August 2012 after 10:00 pm Insha Allah. The next meeting of the Hilal Committee of Toronto membership will InshaAllah be on Saturday 29th Ramadan 1433, corresponding with 18th August 20121, to determine the Hilal for Shawwal and celebration of Eidul Fitr..."

Take a moment to vote on this poll (anonymity preserved).

I wonder why - it must be a mystical phenomenon.

The Claremont Road musjid used the logic that the new moon was born at 5:55pm which was before Maghrib in Cape Town and thus herald the beginning of Shawwal.

Exactly the case in my area. Saudi announced it also. This shall be the last day of fasting
