Try talking to him, it can't hurt to voice your concerns if he's a nice guy that is..

Usually, voicing concerns doesn't hurt. If anything, it will give you the opportunity to gauge whether or not he is as big an idiot as he appears, or just unfortunately uneducated. Good luck...

Ugh, I was in a similar situation a couple years ago. These drunks who lived across the street got this cute,nice,boxer/PB mix puppy and decided they wanted it to learn to stay in the yard without a leash. Every time I came outside that pup bolted right for me to come say hi. It didn't bother me except that the city bus went down our street every 30 mins. Every time I would take him home I tried to talk to the woman about keeping him on a leash. She just would not accept that you aren't going to teach a 2 month old pup to stay in the yard.Especially since our neighborhood was infested with bunnies. Of course the dog ran off after them. The last time I took him home I gave her a tie out and cord and we put it in the ground, but she still wouldn't use it. A few days later she's outside carrying on because they dog got plowed over by the city bus.
I know you want to help, but some people you just can't get through to.

You guys are right, I am gonna take him a PBC flyer and have a talk with him.
At best he will take my concerns to heart and check out this forum, at worst I will have wasted a bit of time.

Aw Chloesredboy, that's so sad. Poor dog. You're right though - some people just don't learn, not even after something like that.

I hope this goes well, BSL here is bad enough, the last thing we need is more owners setting their dogs up for failure.

All you can do is try. If he listens cool,if not at least you wont be thinking "what if I had" when something does happen.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I am a total over-thinker too, so I know I would never get over it.

Great decision. I hope he joins, and we can try to talk a bit of sense in him too.

Me,too. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard "You're making it more complicated than it is" or "You're thinking too much, just do it" .

He could be one of those people that just sees his dog as any old dog, hope you can get through to him. Even if his dog isnt DA, from what ive learned here on this site all it takes is a pit to defend itself and all is lost for the dog.

Sounds like you've got a future with al qaeda!

My brother had a boxer that would sit on a chair on their front porch all day long. No fence, no chain. Just a boxer on a chair. People with dogs walked by, cats....it didn't move. On my way home from work there is a huge white bully that sits on the front lawn in a less desirable neighborhood and cats walk by it, kids, other dogs. It just sits there basking in the sun. Some dogs are well behaved.

Yes but all dogs are animals that have instincts.

Yes, they eat when hungry, drink when thirsty. Attacking another animal is not necessarily instinct...we don't own wolves.
