Spent yesterday at the beach

My border collie Jet spent the day chasing the waves and barking at them, and then as they came in, running back to me as if terrified for his life, and digging holes in the sand.

Anyone elses dogs do the same with the waves?

I have a cross collie and he loves the beach but not sure I would brave it this time of year.

Skye loves the beach but she is a bit of a wuss when it comes to the waves as well, she'll plough towards them then change her mind and come back. I need to get some beach pics up sometime, I've got loads.

My dog stays away from anything that has to do with water. But he loves digging holes in the sand. :-)

I love beaches. When we were young, my family would bring all the dogs with us when we went to the beach. They would then drag the dogs into the water because the salt water is effective in removing the ticks and fleas that stuck to the dogs.

I've also noticed that most dogs living near beaches and who love swimming there on a daily basis rarely have ticks or fleas on their fur.

I wish that were the case. I live nowhere close to the beach so neither my dogs nor I can enjoy that. But we do live near the lake and I'd take there on hot days. They like to run around in the shallow water and if it gets too hot they'd go swimming.
