There are some dogs that are bred for wrinkles ... and the more they have supposedly.. the more they are worth. I don't believe it. I just feel bad for those dogs.

He is a Neapolitan Mastiff which are wrinkled dogs but the fold over his eyes? The HORRIBLE condition of his coat.....He looks like he has mange or at least either a poor diet or thyroid issues.

I don't know anything about Neo Mastiffs.. So i cannot say to what degree is it in standard or not. But I do agree it doesn't look healthy.

Google images for the breed.. they all look unhealthy. Most have horrible skin and pus filled skin folds around the eyes. They almost make the extreme AmBullies look healthy.

yea its because people don't understand you have to clean the folds EVERY DAY! and feed them something other than crap kibble, I think they have a lot of skin issues due to the color also but I could be wrong. I want a mastiff and my hubby's fav. is the neo so if I get one one day it might be a neo

This is a Neo I met last year at PetsMart. She is wrinkled but not as extremely as the aforementioned dog.

SHOW BRED Neos are over-wrinkled messes. REAL Neos are NOT.

Just another incredibly sad example of what AKC people have done to a breed

what old school neos look like

honestly not the mastiff for me, more interested in presas and boerboels.
Even well bred neos seem not to have the drive for me

Boerboels for me too. Only mastiff I'd want to own, personally.

The old Neopolitans were such nicer looking dogs. Yes, the Romans bred them for excess skin to make it harder to injure them during battle and in war games, but they didn't breed them to have THAT much! If those dogs tried to do their ancient job, they'd probably fail miserably at it. Sad.

It's really all about the breeder and their lines. I am a fan of all the Mastiffs. If I were to own one I would go for a Dogue De Bordeaux. But, if I were interested in Neo's, there are still breeders in the U.S. that do NOT breed the overly wrinkled messes.

You know if that dog decided to go the kid would have been waving behind him like a flag in the breeze, lol.

Glad someone said it, just like any working dog there is show bred and working bred dogs Neo's are no exception.
