today. a mix of rant and brag

so today at the park I was walking JJ and this couple was walking a shit head of a fat JRT mix on a flexi. I could tell that the lil fucker was not under their control, so I crossed to the other side of the path. as they were passing us the woman decided to let her flexi go longer, and said "no baby you don't want to play with her, she'll eat you" but still let her dog come over and I asked her very calmly to get her dog back over to her. the dog did not, so I tried to walk faster away when the shit charged JJ and grabbed her nose. I was PISSED. then they proceeded to ask me if I wanted him. I told them hell no, and to control their fucking dog so it doesn't bite another dog. fortunately JJ isn't reactive, and it didnt phase her much

fast forward 20 minutes and 2 girls with a 3 month old pit bull puppy walk up to us and ask if they can ask a few questions. I asked them to hold on a minute, I would like to see how the dogs reacted to eachother before we got in to a coversation. they started playing immediately so we went over to the baseball diamond and closed the gates so they could interact without leashes causing a problem. so we talked for about 30 minutes and watched them play (very appropriately) and I ended up telling them about the forum, about raw feeding and giving them a few references for vets to do ears (they wondered where JJ got hers done) they seemed to just soak up all of the information I gave them (made me very happy) and one of the girls toddlers was also enjoying playing with them and JJ loved giving him kisses

then, on my way home some people were playing tennis and their ball landed right in front of JJ so she carried it back over to one of the people and dropped it in front of him, he leaned down to pet her and thanked us. as I was walking away I heard the girl playing tennis with him talk about mauling people in their sleep (which pissed me off)

when I got home I ran to the store and a butcher for some meat. at the butcher I got 40 lbs of beef scraps for $10!!

so today was a VERY eventful day. on one hand, I got compliments about JJ and her behavior, and got a very good deal on meat, on another hand I had to deal with shitty people and unruly dogs

I am very proud of JJ and her training and temperament. I love how great she is with all people and how she listens without questioning me

So sweet JJ took the ball over to the people. My dogs would have run away like 'whoohoo! Free ball for us!' Course, my dogs(except maybe Ike) would have eaten a JRT mix who bit them on the nose, too. JJ deserves some extra praise for being so polite!

JJ sounds wonderfully trained and I think its unfortunate you ran into the asshats you did. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Good girl JJ (and yet another reason flexi leads are evil lol)

I hate flexi's for most dogs. but for dogs with JJ who listens very well (which is very few dogs) they aren't much of a problem. JJ is great on her flexi (which is only for bikerides or fun walks). if another dog passes us I usually either have her heel, or put her in a down-stay until they pass. but for the majority of dogs and owners? I hate them

we have more trouble with JRTs on our walks than any other breed of dog. JJ sounds like a great dog!

Wonderful! That gives me hope with my Diesel. At 6 months, his attention is still not there! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/confused.png
