Default bath time paranoia
How do you wash the head?

My dogs don't really like baths, they don't fight very much but they dislike them.
Anyhow, I'm afraid to wash their heads. I'm afraid of getting water in their ears and/or soap in their eyes. I'm also afraid, to a slightly lesser degree, of getting water in their nose & soap in their mouth.

They won't stand by and let me do like you do with a baby & block their eyes/ears.

A wet wash cloth usually works well.

I almost never wash Roxie's head, but if your dogs head is really dirty, just take a washcloth to it.

I turn my dogs' faces downward and run the water from their forehead down their face. They close their eyes, it avoids their ears, and runs off their nose and doesn't go in.

I just wash it like I do the rest of his body then dry his ears out. No biggie.

x2

I don't use shampoo on her face; unless I have to spot clean.

I soap her ears up and rinse them off with a wash cloth.

For my dogs, I rarely wash their heads. (Well, sometimes I wash Ethel's) I hardly bathe the damn things.

But, just get the head wet however you please (helps a lot if you're using a hose or detachable shower head), shampoo it up (hopefully you're using a shampoo that's tear free, I think most good dog shampoos are? Or your dog will be smart enough to close it's eyes), grab em by the snout, tilt their head up and rinse. You can dry the ears out afterwards.
