Default *SIGH* Puppy fever
My neighbor has a litter of APBT pups. She bred her female to my brothers male. I know both dogs well, adore them both. Healthy, good temperament and beautifully built.

Now that the pups are almost 6 weeks old she has them in the front yard while she sits on the porch and the pups are playing with the kids. I have a favorite and i am looking out the window, watching the play and just burning up with want!!!

Stupid city rules allowing only 3 dogs....

Jean.... you sound just like my wife. We went up to CT a couple of weeks go just to "see" a new litter of five bull terrier boys! Talk about coming home with the FEVER!

I must be a freak, I just don't get sucked in with random puppies. See I'd be all bejiggity about a backyard breeding and where the puppies are going to end up, not all excited about how cute they are. Am I a total freak for not being feverish over puppies?

I'd seriously take a young adult any day over a puppy. I must be weird.

Oh yes puppy fever. I know it well. I've got to keep remembering Dumbass and his evil bastard puppy days to fight it off.

I have puppy fever. Right now there seem to be cute puppies everywhere. I don't want more than one dog so my husband enforcing the no more dogs rule keeps my impulse in check.

OOOOOH my....that is a WHOLE LOT of temptation being that they are next door. I would have a really hard time. Geez...you already have a favorite..

How many dogs would you now own if it wasn't for the city rules?

I think it's the puppy breath and the general puppy baby like innocence. And you don't know puppy fever until you have a Saint Bernard puppy.

And I'm forbidden to get baby fever by the boy toy. So I stick with puppy fever.

Me too! But I feel the same way about babies too. I've never understood why everybody gets in such a tizzy over babies, puppies and kittens.

I was actually there when 3 of the litter of 5 were born. The female I am in love with is one of those I saw born. She is very laid back. I picked her up yesterday and held her like a baby. She didn't squiggle or squirm. She just wrapped her paws around my hand while I rubbed her chest and then she went right to sleep.

I know both sire and dam well. They are great pets, but I agree they shouldn't have been bred. Its not that they aren't very healthy dogs who are very active with their owners, but they aren't truly proven either. What bugs me is I said the breeding wasn't a good idea because of overpopulation issues. No one listened. They were sure the pups would have homes lined up before it was time to leave mama. Now that they are almost 6 weeks old with a mere 2 weeks left to go before they are ready to leave there isn't a single one sold. I fear they will go to just anyone and I hate the thought of an uncertain future for "mine".

And, to make things worse, the neighbor knows how much I love my dogs and care for them and she knows that this is the last litter off Sid (my "nephew dog") so she said she would give me one free. This means I wouldn't be paying to support a BYB.

My friend said she would be willing to license the dog in her name and if anyone asks I could say I am dogsitting while the owners work or are out of town until we can find a way to move. The hubby and I are trying to gtfo of the city and buy another house in a more rural area where there aren't arbitrary limits on god ownership. GAH, I wish the city just bothered the people who fail to clean up their yards and provide proper care and leave the rest of us to the number we can actually care for as individuals.

And Puppy breath should be a controlled substance. So addictive!
