I have a sign on the fence to my yard that says "Warning - Beware of Dog - Warning", I think it's the most common sign around, since it's normally sold at home improvement stores...
I was riding around and saw a sign that said "Guard Dog on Duty", I thought it was much less offensive, then "Warning - Beware of Dog - Warning", the warning sign makes it sound like my dog is vicious. So I did a search and found a few for sale on ebay, which one do you think I should get? Read the next post also, I'm attaching the remaining images.. If you know of another place where I can buy a few good signs from let me know. I would like to get 3 of them.. Both sides and the back of my fence. |

Warning signs do more bad than they do good.
Like Beware Of Dog.. they tell you that you should put one up to let people know that you have a dog that would potentially bite/attack someone. If the dog does end up biting someone and you have the sign up, guess what, that sign is you admitting that you own a dog that is considered dangerous. Thus making you liable for damages....... Comes back to bite you in the ass. |

I never got this cleared up, but was told that having one of these signs, to a lawyer, says, you are admitting you have a dangerous dog and in todays sue all society, that would work against you.
Maybe your local laws have a more clear understanding of this. But I always like the one that says "Don't jump this fence, unless you can get across the field in 9 seconds... The bull can do it in 10" |

We were told the same thing about "Warning" signs for our dogs. Because at on time my ex was on probation, he was required to put up some type of sign so that the officers coming by would know there were dogs there. We opted for the "Dog on Property" signs and have just kept them.
But we are a little deceitful as there is more than 1 dog they will have to deal with. |

I don't like the others, besides the "Pit Bull X-ing"...Dog on Property is a good one...But the rest aren't the best idea....If I did have a Guardian breed, like 6pack said, I am not going to warn them that I have a guard dog. I would put up a "dog on property" but that's all. |

My favorite sign:
Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again! I normally just use "No Trespassing". But found a few Greyhound signs I liked, basically stating to fast dogs in yard, please keep gate shut. Although I normally padlock the gate b/c I don't trust people. My entire yard is fenced. Fedex drops my packages off at the gate. UPS throws them over the fence and runs! Chinese food and Pizza delivery people stand over in my neighbors yard and wait for me to come to them! |
