Default What I think right now...
I have done a lot of reading since joining this forum. Trying to learn about my dog and its breed. Even tho I have owned pit bulls for several years. I have never really dove myself into the breed. I knew my pit bulls and knew how to handle them and thats all I needed to know. Weather it was a apbt, amstaff, or ambully, also didn’t matter and still doesn’t. Everywhere I go I get asked, Is that a pit bull?(no its a yorkie) What is it mix with?(I don’t know its a pit bull) Is your dog aggressive? etc... You have all heard these questions before.

Those questions and my own question are what brought me to this forum.

My questions:

Is going to the dog park a good idea?

Should I breed my dog?

Should I get another dog?

What should I expect by having two dogs?

What breed of pit bull do I have?

I have more...two many to list.

All these question have been answered with the help of you guys and my own research, which is on going.

Is going to the dog park a good idea? No, I am putting my dog in a situation where I am asking for trouble. The trouble that I am asking for is, my dogs DA and the ignorance of other dog owners.

Should I breed my dog? No, To many pit bulls are being euthanized as it is. Don’t even get me started with all the mix breeds. I have see pit bulls mixed with just about everything that walks on four legs.

Should I get another dog? Yes, As long as my toaster doesn’t get jealous...As long as one dog in Dominant and the other is submissive. If I want to get more then 2 dogs, thats okay. If they conform to a hierarchy around an Alpha-Beta-Omega structure. Regardless of what breed they are.

What should I expect by having two dogs? Expect the worse and plan for it so it doesn’t happen. Make sure that plan includes the cost of owning two dogs.

What breed of pit bull do I have? apbt and amstaff...not 100%, but i don’t care. When asked I will say,”Bull terrier...No, I mean pit bull.” No wait! Damn!! am confused again...Yorkie!

This is my opinion of what I have read at this point. As a opened minded human my opinion may change when I learn more.

Thank you all for your help.

One more thing...I am not ready for another dog.

Not really the case...especially with bulldogs. These dogs work off thier own internal guidance system. You have to manage them properly to house more than one and not put your trust into an idea of pack behavior.
