Default How do you teach an old dog new tricks?
Mostly I mean my dad He has this toy poodle that he "inherited" when my mom passed away. Now he is a decent dog owner but the problem is all of his experience comes from when he was younger. That may not seem like a big deal BUT he is over 70! His annoying habits include: not picking up after his dog, and not leashing his dog. Granted she is decent about recall but when she sees another dog she always tries to run up to it, he can call her back but I KNOW there is a pitbull in the neighborhood. If one time she doesnt listen she is toast.

So what do I do? I mean he is a no-nonsense southern man

Sorry, no help here. I have a no-nonsense southern Mama and honestly, I can't convince her of anything. In this breed, it's not how they're raised, it's genetic.
