I woke up this morning and first thing I ALWAYS do is check on the animals.. puppy is ok, the cats in the house are ok.. but I left the dogs outside last night because it was sooo nice.. I check on them to find a dead cat right outside their kennels.. I am assuming it got in one of the kennels and barely got out to die. its a local stray, has been around forever.. I feel so horrible! its not tore up or anything so it could be it just happened to die right there.. but my guess is one of my dogs did it! Animal Control is on their way to pick it up..

Would you have to call them for a rabbit? |

That's CRAZY!!!! Like a chicken carcass from the dinner table wouldn't do the exact same thing!
Good for you for following directions, but when I owned a rabbit killer, I wrapped and threw! Never had a cat though. I would have wrapped and thrown that though too. But I lived in a town where someone got a "dangerous dog" citation for killing a chicken! It got thrown out in court, laughed at actually, but who wants the drama! You're in the right for calling. My paranoia sometimes gets in the way of my ethics! |

because here you can not just throw the dead cat away - you have to have an AC officer pick it up for disposal ---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 AM ---------- That's CRAZY!!!! Like a chicken carcass from the dinner table wouldn't do the exact same thing! |

I love cats, they have great personalities and are fun to train. I hate how many strays there are. ![]() Its not your fault if your dogs got a cat. You said they were in a kennel, so they were safely contained. Its the person who owned the cat at one time who is responsible for it being free to be hurt by a dog or whatever other dangers lurk outside. Besides, what kind of crazy cat goes anywhere near a dog kennel?? Any cat that lacking in instincts should be removed from the gene pool. Total Darwin Award winner. |

lol your telling me.. this cat must have been sick or dieing already.. he's been around for years and has never gotten so bold.. I came home once to our door open andhim in our house.. boy, just walking in thehouse, I about got tore up by him trying to get out.. but poor fella (or girl), I guess his time just came! He was pretty, except for being wild.. long white (kind of creamish) fur.. with a hint of blue.. we have about 30 stray cats (he was the first to die in our yard).. and he was deff the top dawg (cat)..
The AC did not ask questions.. it took a whole 5 seconds for him to knock on the door, us hand him the bag the cat was in, and him to leave. He asked no questions, but I guess the dispatcher probably told him we found the cat dead in the yard.. He did not want to see the dogs, nothing. So, as far as he knows, our dogs could be poodles! He did not charge us anything.. so it was not a big deal to call him.. I do, however, wish they'd pick up all these strays.. (not that I wish them be PTS, but when heat time comes, its like they all go in heat at the same time and at night all you hear is the whole street scream with cats in heat). The lady 2 houses down, feeds them all (thus why they stick around).. and I am glad they get fed.. but sheeesh! A outside cat in this neighborhood is uncalled for.. its full of boxers, labs, exc.. I'm actually suprised I do not see more dead than I do. |

Our area and a neighboring county have a free spay and neuter program for feral/stray cats. They even pass out live traps to catch the buggers. You take them in once caught, get the surgery, recover and then are either taken in by a foster/rescue program or are picked up by the good samaritan that brought them in and released back into their neighborhood. Might be worth seeing if there is a similar program there for the safety of the cats and other pets since disease could be spread by the strays and their babies.

Lies! You don't train cats, they train you! If your cat has made you think you have trained it, its just a really smart cat who has conditioned you without you realizing it! ![]() |

I like my cat, and that's about it. I only like her because she tolerates the dogs, and requires no attention.
I can't wait for the day my stupid neighbor lets her precious kitties out, and they come into my yard AGAIN for the millionth time and my dogs finally take care of the problem. I can't stand people putting their cats outside. It's my pet peeve. And then they have the audacity to bitch to you about their cats safety when the damn cat gets in YOUR yard where you have dogs. |
