Default Why do people get this breed...*rant*
if they are not willing to accept DA as part of it??

I've been debating all day with this *lovely* woman on Facebook who thinks that DA should not be accepted and that by saying that "pit bulls" (using the broad definition here) are genetically predisposed to DA, that it's "putting fear into people", "enforcing negative stereotypes", so on and so forth...

You have hundreds of breeds to choose from...why pick one whose traits you don't accept?? Oh but her 8 month old "staffy" mix does great in the dog park so she doesn't listen to what the experts have to say.

And people wonder why these breeds are in the crapper.

No doubt. People seem to have to learn the hard way. I was "lucky" and I got to watch everyone I know screw up with the breed so I learned from THEIR mistakes.

Because people these days are freaking stupid.

They would rather ignore something that makes them uncomfortable than understand and control it.
Some would rather run the risk of having a dog PTS than chain it.

I think some people who are very well aware of a fact will often convince themselves it is true/untrue because they so badly long for it to be so.

I never make any sense.

I'm so glad I worked with a bunch of the dogs in the area that go to the local dog park, and knew there was no way in hell either or any of my dogs would ever go there.

I don't get why people think their dog is somehow exempt from DA because "he/she would never do that". God, the reason I like pit bulls is because they seem less "domesticated" (in that they still have so many of the baser instincts that wild animals have, such as DA, strong prey drive), they're more than dogs, they're just pure forces of nature. But this is coming from someone who would love to own a wolf hybrid once I finally have tons of land, and can seclude myself by at least 50 miles from the nearest human being. And the practice of handling dogs of course.

She must have liked the look of the breed. That's usually why people get them.

Yep.

That's the most complimented trait, too.
Looks.

I always get it "nice looking dog" "gorgeous dog" "awesome colors" or whathaveyou, all very nice and apreciated, of course.
... but it would be nice for people who meet/pass us to compliment Bransen more often for his personality, behavior and manners in opposition to the way he looks.

I've seen plenty of gorgeous dogs I don't want near me, for personality-related reasons.

Sorry, I'm sailing off topic.

Neighbor that can't contain or control her Chi mix, just got a "blue pit" pup. The pup is 4 months old and is already 35 or 40 lbs. Snapped at my ol' lady and Amber when the neighbor asked if she could let her pup meet Amber. Amber luvs pups, but she wanted 2 kill this one after that

The only reason this little dog isn't a threat to an adult is because it is so small. He has gotten loose several times and attacked a few ankles.

It seems the Pit has 3 factions.

Faction 1: Pits are great dogs, just like any other dog and everything you have ever heard is untrue. They can cite examples. They live in an anti- Pit hate media/internet web site fantasy land.

Faction 2: Pits are the devil and will eat your face. They can also cite examples. They live in a Pit hate media fantasy land.

Faction 3: Knows Pits are great dogs and accepts their faults. Can cite many examples. These people are in the minority. They live in reality.

Because I'm a masochist?

But seriously, we were debating on a public page on Facebook so I was hoping that there were lurkers out there who could be educated. I knew there was no hope for the fools I was debating. I just hope that their dogs don't turn on while in the dog park.

I also think that many people have this innate need to try to prove everyone wrong..."Oh, you with your decades of experience and countless links of why I shouldn't go to the dog park? We'll you're wrong because my pit is great at the dog park! Who cares what the experts say! Neener-neener!"

These people should just get a nice cat instead.

Cats are sneaky and mean and will eat your face if you die in the house and they run out of food. Fact.

Ditto,.. I have yet to see any one who can resist a pit puppy. Sometimes even after they know what breed it is. I have seen people over look every other breed of puppy out there but the bully breeds get the most ooos and awws whether people know what they are or not. There's just something about them that everyone seems to like and notice.

We had a champagne bully pup that came in last week for an ear and neuter consult and he stole the show with everyone old folks and all. Their was to older ladies there that couldn't believe he was a bully, because of his coat color they kept thinking he was a weimaraner mix.

I had a conversation with this lady because one of our breeders asked what breed he was and she told him he was an APBT. When he told her he wasn't she got offended and started talking about the breeder and her papers. I listened to a degree then I butted in. Because he was totally right, the pup is an Am. Bully that looks just like Tyson that's on here. I wanted to get pics to post on here but didn't, I'll get'em later.

Anywayz back on subject,.. bullys especially puppies have that IT factor. Idk what it is, its different for everyone. Maybe its the peanut noggins on the pudgy bodies and the confidence they exude. Who knows,..I know it and I admit it, I'm a sucker for a bully pup.

Champagne is not a color.
Says you,...call it what you like, I called it Champagne it wasn't exactly a blue fawn or blue buckskin or what ever. It was an even mixture of both to call it just a blue or blue fawn would be wrong because that's not what it was. As many colors the bully breed comes in now days be prepared to hear other colors and tones that your not use to. They come in more colors, patterns and tones than any other breed out there. So they have to be called something. That's what I called it so get over it. If there's another name for a Champagne then so be it, until I know then that's what I'm calling it.
