Default Oh my, puppy spoiled all ready
Ok, the first night, I slept near the puppy because of his condition and I was afraid to leave him alone.. so last night, I go to bed and put him in his lil area.. I turned the light off and laid down.. I am dozing and all of a sudden, he starts whimpering... so I checked on him.. he was ok so I decided to ignore him.. then I hear

*WHHHHAAAAYWHHHAAAAAY* and I mean he was LOUD! loud enough to wake my neighbors up.. so my husband starts pushing me.. telling me he was sleeping on the couch to put the puppy in bed with me... sigh!!! so now it starts.. he's never going to sleep alone.. he is going to want to be with me... soon as I put him in bed with me.. he shut up and passed out.

I went through the same thing when I brought home Ike. We crated him in the dining room and he cried. I moved the crate close to my bed and he cried. I moved the crate to the basement family room and he still cried so loud I could hear him in my room! I ended up asking for advice and someone suggested covering the crate. I took an old blanket the next night and covered his crate with it. He cried for a bit, but went to sleep. Took us about 3 days to get him to go in the crate at bedtime and be quiet, but each night he went to sleep sooner because he learned we weren't going to cave in to him.

The first few nights before I asked for advice, he got put in bed with me because I needed him to shut the heck up before the neighbors called AC or something and I was ever so tired. During those nights, he pee'd on my husbands pillow, ate one of my pillows and chewed a pair of jeans. He also found a book on my nightstand to chew. I liked crating so much better!

Oh ya we crate our others.. and we have a crate for him, but he has those sores all over his body and legs and when he tried to stand up on the sides of the crate his lil legs slipped through and busted his sores open.. so until he is healed.. we made him a little area blocked off.. once he is better.. crating is fine.. its just the until he heals.

Hmm, the crate has a tray so his legs just poke through the sides? How about using human baby bumper pads so he can be crated without opening his wounds?

When I got my first pup I let him sleep with me on his first night.I was taking him out to empty all night and then I crashed...when I woke up the pup had chewed a 10 inch dia. hole in the sheet rock wall.I put him in his crate the next day and let the pup sleep on the side of my bed.

i just put the crate near the bed and then stuck my fingers in the crate opening so she could smell me...that worked for about 3 weeks,,but since my big dog sleeps in the bed,,we let her sleep in the bed...6 months later and zero accidents in the bed,

My pup started sleeping on his bed. The one time I put him on my and he always wanted to go onto it. What it did was let him fall asleep then move him to his own bed. He cries sometimes times to go on the bed but stops shortly after.

They are so easy to spoil. I can't walk to the kitchen w/o the dogs thinking (rightly so) they are getting a handout.

He is so worth it though! Just over the past few days, hes caught on to *sit*.. and I havent even tried it with him yet.. (I wanted to wait until hes all better).. but just watching the other dogs, he's doing it. he also knows when its feeding time.. he will go to his bowl around the same times of the day and whimpers.. (we feed him 3 times a day, with plenty of treats inbetween).. he's also learned when its his meds time.. lol.. I go to the shelf I keep them on, and he runs and hides!

hes trying so hard to play with the big dogs.. tink - we have to watch very closely.. she is tolerating him, but does not like him in her face.. (and hes at that pawing stage).. spinner does very well with him, (of course we still watch them closely).. but spinnner is a little rough play.. he paws the pup one time and knocks him across the floor.. I cant let Lucy around him yet.. Lucy is very hyper and uses her butt to sit on him.. lol and shes a heavy heavy girl! but he still tries to play with them.. he loves my cat.. they both sleep on our bed..together!
