I would love to take my dogs to work... but I work with idiots that believe the media hype, so.......
Mollie and Bella are inside 24/7, except for potty time and exercise and play outside. Bella is crated during the day, Mollie is "crated"... meaning she had the free run of the house, but prefers to self crate herself on my king size bed all day, and I have to come in and wake her up when I get home.... laziest dog on the planet. Gizzmo and Pigg are crated in my sons room while he is gone, and in his room when he is home. Maxx, Titus and Zoey are the outside dogs.... however, they come inside when it's raining, when it's over 75 degrees outside, and when it's down to 50's, and anytime there is a thread of bad weather for the day. They stay outside when it's 50-75 degrees during the day, but they come inside and are crated every night, and when the weather is bad, or the neighbors across the street are shooting. Aside from not getting to go to work with me, I would have to say, all my dogs pretty much have the life.... when I come back in my next life, I would want to be my dog.... but then, who would take care of me?? |

My dogs used to go to work with me when I worked for a vet in NM, I didn't like the way the vet treated the animals there so I left them in the car most of the time or they were right by me. It definetely allowed me to take them for more potty breaks and a closer eye on them especially when I was working 2 jobs.
Up here, they stay at home with my Grandma, although Judge does get to go sometimes, depending on the day! Red and Hobie are loose with Grandma and Judge gets crated in my room. Courtney |

Does anyone else bring their dog to work during the winter?
I made a winter crate which includes 3/4" Styrofoam insulation, and then wrapped with a blanket. Inside is an old sleeping bag and a full sized flannel sheet which she crawls under. I put a temperature probe inside the crate to ensure it doesn't get too cold. She usually keeps the crate at 70°F+. Since I have her at work I can take her on a 30 minute hike through the woods everyday at lunch. |

I love taking her and really enjoy the 30 minute hike every day. I feel like it is such great bonding time.
I want to figure out a solution in the summer to keep her from over heating. My thoughts are to... -Put reflective shades in front window and rear window. -Keep all windows open -Supply lots of water. -Monitor temperature. I am sure with enough thought and effort I could keep her comfortable in the summer. My biggest fear is that people would report abuse not realizing all the effort I took to take care of her. |

I didn't really consider theft. We do have cameras on the lot but I'm not sure if I would want the risk of someone taking her. It only takes once for you to lose you dog.
As far as heat stroke I think I could keep her cool. I am pretty handing, I could maybe even rig of a battery operated fan connected to a thermocouple and wheatstone bridge that turns on if the temp reaches a certain threshold. |

Its not worth the risk with high temps. As far as heat stroke I think I could keep her cool. I am pretty handing, I could maybe even rig of a battery operated fan connected to a thermocouple and wheatstone bridge that turns on if the temp reaches a certain threshold. |
