Default Jake will have to go out on a chain
as sad as it is to me my house APBT will have to go outside tommorow he's almost 15 months old now and is really starting to turn on he jumped on my other house dog today luckily i was right there and got them separated them before he ever got a hold. In the past month or so ive noticed he has started to "turn on" and this confirmed it

just goes to show that you can never trust a bulldog not to fight they lived together ever since jake was a few weeks old with no problems until now

this was about 6 months ago

Don't tell the humaniacs or they'll ram through another law that says you can't do that where you live.

You definitely can never trust them not to fight. But you could crate and rotate. Mollie has started getting a little more snappy, and Bella has always just turned belly up and been totally submissive, but I think she is maturing now and that is not going to be the case for very much longer. I will keep them both inside, and when I can't supervise their every move, they will be separated. Bella is already crated through out the day, and I am always with them when they are around each other, but I never let my guard down. If you have a baby gate and can separate them in different rooms, that may help. I will sometimes put the gate up and have Mollie in the living room and Bella in the kitchen with me when I'm fixing dinner or doing laundry. They seem to do just fine with this. Best of luck to you whatever you decide to do.

honestly i dont like crating id rather him be where he can run around and he already has a chain spot that ive put him on when we leave and he really doesn't mind it, Scout is a retired hunting dog and is about 10 or so years old and hasnt ever been in a crate hes been in dog boxes with other dogs to go hunting but i just dont think he would adjust well to that so Jakes just gonna be an outside dog untill Scout dies then he will be my ONLY house dog

Good for you Budboy... if you have the ability.. a good overhead cable set up is nice too... I am in the process of saving up some cash and clearing some spots in the woods to set up several of them and get the dogs back there on those runs.

They are happier on a chain than they could ever be in a crate!!

I agree with NC, chaining IMO is way more humane than crating. the overhead run thing isnt a bad idea either, i got one at my house but they never use it cuz its a plastic pulley and i dont really trust it.

Good choice

I never had to crate/kennel a dog

Max has a big kennel/crate but will take the blankets and towels out and sleep in the corner of the basement than in the damn thing....

Glad you were there, it might have been ugly!!
Yep I have both chain spots and overhead cables between huge oak trees. Real cable not plastic stuff. They love them.

It sounds like he's used to being outside, so it won't be a huge change for him.. I was thinking he had never been outside. Sounds like you have everything under control. That overhead cable thing sounds like a good idea.

Yea chaining is better than crating in most cases. I crate my male because hes anxious and needs his "room" or else he will never sleep! I understand why people are against chains in places like arizona or canada because of the climate but if you live in an area with decent weather why not!?

Plus if I remember correctly you use your dogs for hunting right? They arent exactly pets

some of my dogs are used as catch dogs yes, Jake has always been more of a pet his dam rejected him when he was 2 weeks old and i had to raise him up my self from two weeks old until now and hes always been a house dog

chaining is ok.IF the dog is taken off often and still socialized until 2 years or maybe longer if he is stubborn. Its true that chained dogs bite more frequently.. Just make shure the chain doesnt weigh 100lbs That does more harm than good.I'm from Louisiana the great game dog state that it is and have seen many friendly chained dogs.

I am afraid I may have to do that with my pup when he gets older. We have a 4 year old male pit and we got Colt, our 7 week old male pit, when he was only 3 days old so I had to bottle raise him. They get along perfectly now of course, but the first fight they have we are going to put Colt in our fenced in back yard. Diesel, the 4 year old, has never been in a fight in his like, and he is soo far from DA. I'm just not real sure how Colt will be once he's about 6 months old.
