Default 5-legged puppy saved from Coney Island freak show
5-legged puppy saved from Coney Island freak show

Gastonia resident Calvin Owensby needed money. hehad an idea his newly born five legged puppy might be of interest to someone, but he had no idea a freak side show in Coney Island, New York would offer him $3,000 for Precious, the five legged wonder.

Precious is a Chihuhua mix who was born with an extra leg protruding from her stomach. Six toes are also at the end. Originally a kind animal lover had volunteered to pay for the surgery to have the leg amputated so Precious could be a four legged dog . However before the surgery happened Owensby, who is un-employed, got word he could make some money from the puppy when the owner of the side show called him and offered him the cash.

Owensby told the Gaston Gazette newspaper he needed the money to pay bills and perhaps take al little vacation.

At the Coney Island show, Precious would have been part of a group of twenty seven animals that are either real or mummified.

But before the deal was brokered, in steps Allyson Siegel. According to WBTV news, Siegel paid Owensby $4000 for the pup. She didn’t really want a puppy, she’s a cat person, but would not let the puppy end up in as a freak on display. She also fell in love with Precious and plans to keep her.

Precious will have the leg amputated when she is older. The Animal League of Gaston County is hoping to help with those expenses. They are asking for donations to the 5-legged puppy fund.

Please go online to info@algc.us if you can help Precious; Send donations to: ALGC, PO Box 550655, Gastonia, NC 28055 or call 704-718-4673.

Poor doggy. At least she is safe now. I hate how some people can call themselves animal lovers, but are willing to send there pets to whomever offers a good money deal, or trade deal.....not caring who it goes to.

If you want to help, you can donate toward the surgery. Here is the Facebook post about it.

Info:

Precious, the 5-legged pup now named Cinnamon is safe. Please donate $ to Cinnamon's recovery. $1, $5 whatever you can do to help offset the $4,000 Allyson Siegel put up to save her from the Freak Show offer. Her surgery will be soon. Animal League of Gaston County: ALGC P.O. Box 550655 Gastonia, NC 28056 Make checks payable to ALGC; write for "5-leg pup" on For line. Or contact me through FB.
