The thing with inbreeding or even linebreeding is, if it's done by an intelligent breeder who researchs bloodlines, health & tempermant tests his stock, etc; this sort of breeding can amplify the excellent traits of his animals. On the other hand (and where line/inbreeding) gets the bad rap is, it can also intensify the bad traits. What a responsible breeder is trying to accomplish with this sort of thing is to double (or more) the chances of increasing the good traits he/she is trying to produce. Done correctly, this will increase conformity in the bloodline. (Think of lab rats/mice - most of the ones used in laboratories have been bred like that for hundreds of generations, it makes the genetics almost identical for accurate testing). Although, I wouldn't go that far with dogs, I have owned and bred (with help from a mentor/breeder) my own dogs, not quite as closely as siblings, but uncle - niece, etc. I have owned a product of a sibling breeding and he was a wonderful animal who performed well. His parents were littermates, the breeder health and temperment tested them and the grandparents, the pups all went to people he knew well so he could check on them. That dog was probably one of the most stable dogs I ever owned.

This is why I think the breeding should be left to the professionals and would never consider breeding dogs myself. There's so much to it, you have to be so careful what you breed with what, or else you get a bad bunch of puppies. I know that BYBing goes on everyday, and there are way too many puppies out there, but as for me, I will adopt from a rescue... I would love to have a "quality" pup one day from a reputable breeder, but knowing that they don't come cheap, I probably wouldn't ever be able to afford one. Right now, I don't have room for another dog, but when I get ready for one, I'm sure I will look around and either get a rescue or one from somebody that comes highly recommended.

Red nose is just a color of the dog's nose. It's not a different "type" of pit bull.
Here are some real American Pit Bull Terriers. Marty's Lil' Bit Boogieman's Gr. Ch. Bronson Ch. Chinaman ROM (this is one of the dog's in the pedigree you posted). Garner's Frisco Garner's Ch. Dynomite When you talk about "big dogs"? Do you mean these? Notorious Juan Gotti Ch. Razor Edge's Purple Rose of Cairo Is so, those are American Bullies, not American Pit Bull Terriers. |
