5. Pit Bulls are inherently a dangerous breed of dog
First of all there is no such breed as a Pit Bull. In fact Pit Bull is a generic term used to describe several breeds of dogs including the American Pit Bull Terrier. Last year when the AKC rated all registered breeds of dogs based on the Canine Good Citizen Test, the American Staffordshire Terrier rated above many popular breeds in the temperament section of the exam. 4. Breed Specific Legislation will prevent dog attacks from happening. Simply not true. BSL does, however, punish responsible owners by putting unfair restrictions on them. 3. Pit Bull breeds have locking jaws. This is nothing more than an urban myth. The truth is there is no medical evidence showing that Pit Bull breeds have jaws that are capable of clamping on to something. The only thing which keeps a dog clamped down on to an object is sheer determination! 2. Pit Bull breeds that are used for fighting need to be euthanized. Pit Bulls are first and foremost dogs and dogs are remarkable creatures. Dogs are remarkable in their ability to love unconditionally, forgive, trust, and put the past behind them. In fact dogs are better at these things humans and Pit Bull breeds are no exception. With some TLC and a good rehabilitation programs any Pit Bull dog can bounce back from a bad upbringing, neglect, and abuse within weeks.
Simply not true. Many famous people, including the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, own Pit Bull Breeds as well as doctors, lawyers, and house wives. In 2006 the best in show national champion was a Bull Terrier. |

The big problem is the people who believe the propoganda, for the most part, will never change thier minds or point of view. We can and will change some peoples opinions...usually on a one-on-one basis...but the others will stick with what they heard on the news/in the media/from other sources.
Have to crack a little joke at this one: Many famous people, including the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, own Pit Bull Breeds as well as doctors, lawyers, and house wives. Jon owns a "pit bull" as well as doctors, lawyers and house wives... I know what you meant but it read funny to me. |
