To start out my wifes grandama had passed away, so I took her up to be with her mom so I was gone for most of the day, while I was gone sadie had dug a hole under the fence and got out, well supposedly she was running around the neighborhood and went after another dog. So when I got home that night she was loose standing by the kennel in which the my other dog was still in for the fact the she was to big to squeeze through the hole. She hasnt ever left the yard without my other dog and my neighbors are scared of her so I dont know what to do now. besides move

It's your responsibility to properly contain your dogs. Because you didn't, your dog may have to pay with its life. Start looking for another place to live.

As far as you being in court with the lady with the lab, that's another case and has nothing to do with your case. May not be fair, but that's the way it is.

I'm sorry about this situation, but didn't you start another thread today that you are getting a new puppy? Do you think that is very responsible right now?

It's not BS. Because you didn't double check to make sure the dog was properly contained, your dog may have to be put down. You made another thread about picking up a new puppy. You might have to move in order to keep the dog you already have. Don't you think you should wait on the new puppy?

I agree with Boogieman and Michele... it does suck, but as Boogie said, we are held to a much higher standard than any other dog owner. Why was your dog outside alone? these dogs should never be outside alone, too many things can happen. I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through, I hope everything turns out best for your dog! Good luck.

We all no she F up but lets really put some thought in this, Its eather she puts the dog down or moves!!!! She may be living in a house and just cant pick up and leave or has a lease on a apt, she may have to do the next best thing and give the dog away. Getting another dog already doesint show much loyalty to your dog

Im not gonna give mine up no matter what. The courts didn;t want to listen to a thing I said because she is a pit. All the prosecuter could say was to make it a point of her breed. I havent got the new puppy yet im going to still but I am looking at getting a farmhouse for this reason I was looking anyway and now I just got to do it sooner. I will fight to the end for my dog. Another thing that is bs is the fact that if another dog gets out and bites its no big deal. I realize that I have a fight on my hands and I dont care I am here to protect her breed from bs like this. I have a couple friends that own pits and they are helping me get an attorney for this.

Just remember, when and if you go before the judge, you are not only representing yourself, but all pit bull owners. You don't want to go balistic and freak out on the judge, that won't help your case. Be calm, state the facts, get back up, a letter from your vet, that your dog isn't vicious, up to date on shots, etc. Also, find and print any information you can get on this breed, visit www.badrap.org , they have an excellent section on Monster Myths. Gets lots of information and take it with you. If you get a new house, take pictures of that place, and where your dog will enclosed at. Keep us posted, and good luck!!!

Something still does not add up...was the owner of the dog your dog supposedly bit in court? Was that owner the one who pressed the issue? It almost sounds like you read the post from earlier today where a lab bit a child and got off without being declared a vicious dog. Too much info missing to take this too seriously...even tho it may be the honest truth.

I do wish you had posted before going to court, because what now can be given it rather limited. From what I'm reading here there is no "proof" that the dog attacked anyone? Without proof of anything, and no injuries or even photos of injuries there is no violation except for a dog getting out of a fence. Exactly when was getting out of a fence punishable by death "Mr. Prosecuter"? (looking over)...." your Honor, does the court condone murder of innocent animals that have done no wrong?" However we do not have specifics, and honestly if you have no money you have no way to fight. The most you could ask for is trying to get a newstation or something pick up on this unjustice.

As for you and the dog. For me, no one will put down my dogs. If I have to move, so be it. Right now you have little choice.

As for the new puppy. yes I understand completely, and the pup is much better with you than dead. BUT, it will be much harder with 2 APBT's than 1, and if you are new to the breed (and the unfair things/issues that come with them) it is even harder. You will have to be the perfect dog owner....as you can see.
