so I really enjoyed dogtown, I did not watch the AP one so I dont know how similar they are, but there was no PETA or any of that crap so that was a bonus, but I thought they did a really good job of showing the breed for what it was, they even talked about the history of the dog, and not just the fighting aspect, but as the family pet and nanny. They even mentioned that these dogs will always have the potential to attack another dog. what did everyone else think?

I saw about five minutes of the episode last night.
I thought it was strange that they decided one of the dogs needed to meet another. The part I found strange is they decided to introduce two male dogs, and they got in a fight. They then said, "Sometimes their fighting past doesn't go away very quickly", and I was thinking "Nor do genetics." |

I watched it and thought it was a fantastic episode. Depending on which dog you are talking about meeting another dog Denzel's choices were limited as they also had to be positive for his illness. Also, if the male is less DA than the female that would make sense to me. Not quite clear on the reason Denzel had to meet another dog. Cherry however was very obvious as to why and again if the males were less DA than the possible females then I'm all for it. I think for him it was just about finding a dog that was similar enough to him that Cherry would come out of his shell. The dog they found though - man he looked almost exactly like him! I betcha that John adopts Georgia though if someone else doesn't get her first. As for Meryl, I appreciate the fact that the courts didn't haven't her euthanized and gave her a chance but in my book HA gets you put to sleep (if it's actual HA and not the result of something else). Period. DA and HA can be managed but I just don't think HA should be managed because the risk is to great. Plus, what kind of life is it for Meryl to have to live at DogTown for the rest of her life? That's also other dogs that could be saved and are adoptable. I don't know. I have reservations about Meryl but I'm glad they worked with her to make her a little more manageable.

I watched it. I thought it was excellent and probably the most positive presentation of the pit bull I've ever seen. The only mention I heard concerning Animal Rights groups was when they said that "several animal rights organizations had wanted the dogs to be euthanized". Overall in my opinion a show like this was long overdue.

Yeah, I think it was Cherry. I understand they felt it would help him come out of his shell, but I'd just think that a male/female would be a better meeting than two males. Though I still don't agree with their trying to train out the "DA". |
