That sucks, Sloww. What's your unemployment as a percentage of your employed pay?

I was going to post a snarky comment but instead I will just say I'm sorry to hear it and I hope things look up for you.
So, you were going to act like an *******, but heroically decided to display basic human decency? Wow, did you hurt yourself?

Sorry to hear it, Sloww. Best of luck finding something new.

I don't know. I'll draw max, which won't be enough, by any stretch of the
imagination.

Oerdin, I appreciate your restraint.

Well, good luck on your search. I'm guessing that the gov't will extend unemployment benefits, which will take some of the pressure off.

In short, I tell manufacturing what to build and when to build it. I push Purchasing for parts, so that product can be built when I've outlined the schedule. Logistics come into play, as another word to use.

In terms of looking for new jobs, networking is generally more powerful in turning up leads than just looking by yourself. So start thinking of all the people you have gotten to know and all your friends and family and ask them if they know of any oportunities in their areas.

Also, maybe the VA can give addition help. As a veteran you get extra consideration for any Federal jobs, so you should look into government work.

I know both and have frequently been the target of his indifference and arrogance. I was however convinced of the sincerity of the second half of his message. (and a bit suprised) Sometime a little humor is necessary when dealing with difficult times. I think your response was a bit unwarrented. Somewhat anyway, hence my attempt at humor.

Yeah, I lost my job to consultants too, although I'm sure they had far more impressive-sounding titles than those at your old company (and charged a lot more each hour - we had a meeting that one of the consultants attended and she didn't say anything in three hours).

Slow:

1. What's your long and short term geographic flexibility.

2. We often need good planners/schedulers at my plant and I'm sure you'd be great here (and like it). However, they are basically moving people around to try to keep firings to a minimum (so there are few outside openings...I think we have a freeze on external hires).

3. Good luck.

Sorry slow, I hope you find a new job soon.
Unemployement is ugly, in Argentina we had peaks of 18% and 25% in 1995 and 2002.

Once the crisis hits bottom, the recovery comes fast, long agonic crises are the problem.
Have faith in Obama, lets hope he does the right things. This is affecting the whole world.
