Default NFC North Rivalries/Hatreds
One of my good friends is a Bears fan and he was saying how happy he was that the Packers lost last weekend. I asked him if he cared about how the Vikings would do this weekend and he said not really. He said that Bears fans hate the Packers and that the feeling is mutual. I always thought, based upon the stuff I read here, that there is enough rivalry/hatred to go around for all 4 of the teams in the NFCN. Is that not true? Are some teams just bigger rivals than others? Are some teams not rivals at all (other than competing for the division crown? I posted this in the NFL General forum because I want to hear from all different types of fans in the NFCN. Thanks.

It depends. GB Fans will tell you Chicago rivalary means more, but many of these sames fans cheered Chi beating MN.

The Packers are the biggest rival of every other team in the NFCN. The Bears are the biggest traditional rival.

Geographically GB is in center of all teams in NFCN so that makes sense.

The same fans? Really? Or are you lumping people together again as is your specialty?

Both are big games imo, the Viking rivalry has intensified with farve in purple. Normally, I care more about beating the bears but this year was different for obvious reasons.

I rooted for the bears a few weeks ago vs minny cause I hate farve.

And Detroit doesn't count...poor lions.

Packer fans will always cheer the lesser evil at the time. Chicago was done, the Vikings were trying to wrap up a 2 seed, therefore, people wanted the Bears to win.

There was time to feel dirty about it later.

Also for the record, I'm not sure the Vikings fans, Packer fans, or Bear fans really consider Detroit to be a rival.

That's an acceptable answer. And one I believe. But there GB fans on this very board who say they hate Chi more and then rooted for Chi. They simply said that to try and stick it to Mn Fans.

Personally if GB had secured division and Mn had secured playoffs, I'd still root for chicago. I prefer to see Gb lose. I'd also like to see NFCN be one of the better divisions though, which means all teams elevating their paly.

another good answer. I hate both, but if it's down to race an outcome if chi or GB wins favors MN, I'll root for team that favor's MN....if game has 0 effect, I root for a tie, then chicago, then i pretend i don't care.

I don't think many outside observers would agree with you. The nfc east is the only division that kept an illogical geographical team in the division and that is because the league knew it would be terrible to separate them. I don't think any other division close to these two though.

IMO, I think when the teams are equal, there is more hatred/rivalry with the Pack and each of the other teams than any other combo in the North. My U.P. Lion friends hate the Pack most, my Minny people I know hate the Pack most and of course the FIBS hate the Pack most.

I hate whoever is more of a threat to the Pack at any particular time...and now with Judas playing QB for the Vikes, they easily take the cake for me at the moment. A few years ago, the Bears easily bore the brunt of my ill-will.

Sorry, the hatred is there for pretty much all teams in the division. Not really the case in the NFC North.

Cowboys and Redskins > Packers and Bears
Cowboys and Eagles > Packers and Vikings
Giants and Eagles > Bears and Vikings

---

Cowboys and Giants > Packers and Lions
Eagles and Redskins > Bears and Lions
Redskins and Giants > Vikings and Lions

Not really anything to really even argue about.

I do the same thing. Whatever benefits my team is who I will cheer for.
