1899 Chris O'Brien created a neighbor hood team, which performed underneath the title the Morgan Athletic Club, on the south side of Chicago. The group later became referred to as the Normals, then the Racine (for a road in Chicago) Cardinals, the Chicago Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Phoenix Cardinals, and, in 1994, the Arizona Cardinals. The group remains the oldest continuous procedure in professional basketball. 1904 Halfback Charles Follis signed an agreement with the Shelby (Ohio) AC, making him the very first known black professional basketball player. 1921 Player-coach Fritz Pollard of the Akron Pros turned the first black head coach.
