Camera Eye Fi Wireless Link

With my new Camera they advertised this product.

So today I went to BestBuy to check it out. They did not have any but the sales person said you could get them online and that he recommended them as a quick way to transfer data back and forth to the PC / Laptop with no cables.

Keeping that thought I started to think about the possibilities of having this in my Camera and shooting shots that are transfered right to my laptop at occasions.

Further investigation showed this may require a link to Eye Fi server to transfer data ( pictures ) which may be a big bottle neck and really slow.. It may also be a drain on the battery in the Camera IMO ... Another con I see already is seems to require a router, but that can be easily fixed..

Has anyone tried one of these and do you have comments, pro's and con's you may see ?

I don't have one but I did here about a story in the news where someone had their camera stolen with one of these cards in their camera. And it was set up so that anytime the camera was in a wi-fi zone it would automatically send the pictures to this guys e-mail. Well the crooks kept taking picture of themselves and their location and the police tracked them down and got the guys camera back... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...smilies/24.gif

OK I figured out this card after leaving it alone due to time and kids, work and stuff. Pretty neat as it sends the pictures fairly quick to my laptop from my camera with ease..

The SD Card 4 GB, has the WiFi built in and can send it straight to your computer at home, Facebook or Photobucket for you. Even from a free Hotspot as you wish when on holidays, not requiring you to remove the SD Card from your camera..

Very cool tool..
