ITS XP......when i hit the start button it starts booting,gets so far and reboots again......a continual loop

Mine does that sometimes. It's usually after it's been running for a few days and it just needs to cool down before restarting.

Can you get into Safe Mode?
To enter Safe Mode, press F8 before the UGLY Windows XP Startup screen (with the bar) repeatedly.
Select Safe Mode (at the top), Press enter.
