Some real fun first rounds, like Cirstea/Pavlyuchenkova v (15)Kirilenko/A.Radwanska

Schiavone seems to always pick Russian doubles partners.

Thanks for posting the draw, Ti-Amie!

Why don't the Radwanskas partner each other? Azarenka/Kuznetsova also seems intriguing...

And what happened with Vivi Ruano and AMG?

If I rememeber correctly, VRP announced her retirement at the end of the season last year, bringing the AMG/VRP partnership to an end. (I thought AMG was planning on playing with Carla this season, btw).

Then, the beginning of the year, Virginia is playing doubles again, only now with Sania - Sania had been playing with Sister B, but that partnership now seems over as well.

Anything that keeps VRP in the game is fine with me, however! And Dry too. We both think the world of her.

wow, lots of partner shake ups!

Lisa Raymond is back with Stubbs. Leaving Stosur to play with Petrova?? Crazy. But fun!

And do so few of the Russian girls get along anymore? Lots of them in the draw, but not with each other.

But how the heck did Jankovic get partnered with Perry?? That had to be drawn out of a hat, right?

Flipkens and Oudin is actually kind of cute.

Not sure what shape Raymond is in (ahem) but they seem like the only team that has a shot at keeping the Williams sisters out of the final. Other than a Williams withdrawal.

Last I saw Lisa, she looked like she was warming up for competitive eating rather than tennis. Which is a shame, because she grew up right near me, and I usually take pride in rooting for her.

Seriously, she'll make any of our comments typically reserved for Bartoli look petty.

Was Raymond ever in shape? I always thought her success rested on her ability to put her whole body weight into her groundstrokes. I'm thinking, the more weight, the better

Stosur left Stubbs, actually, wants to concentrate on her singles (and that's going so well lately )

Amanmuradova/Tanasugarn is a great pairing.

Reunited and it feels so good.

But the break-up of Mattek-Sands/Petrova is an absolute travesty.

Yeah, Petrova's going to be tons less fun with Sam than she was with Sister B, Kuznetsova, and Schiavone

Petrova/Schiavone v Patty/ALG at the USO '08 was about as much fun as I ever had at a womens' doubles match.

Terrible draw for Kveta. And I don't get that partnership, either. She needs a monster server so they at least have a chance of holding every other serve.

P-A-T-T-Y! P-A-T-T-Y!

Best match ever. Remember when Petrova hit Rainer in the head?

Ah. memories. Man, that was fun.

And to think, the other 20,000 people still on the grounds were wasting their time watching Blake/Fish.

Gosh, is there anyone she hasn't hit in the head? She sounds like a lethal partner.

Oh my goodness. Did anyone else see that Kimiko Date is playing doubles with Yayuk Basuki? Basuki not only has one of the all-time great names, but she was one of my favorites way back when I first started watching tennis (I think she made a Wimbledon QF at some point, too). She's got to be pushing 40 herself. I love that this exact team could have been in the draw like 18 years ago.
