Default Oregon Democrat officially resigns from House
Oregon Democrat David Wu officially resigned from Congress late Wednesday night in the wake of accusations of unwanted sexual advances toward a fundraiser's daughter.

Scandal-plagued Oregon Democrat officially resigns from House - CNN.com

IMO people like this should not be given the option of resigning, they should be fired by the other Congress-critters.

He also will receive as much as 900K tax paid retirement. That should not be allowed.

I disagree.

He didn't break the law.

What he did was unseemly and, in my opinion more than a little bit sleezy, but it wasn't a crime and it didn't cause any real harm to his office, his constituents, Congress, or America.

If he broke the law or if he did real harm I'd agree with you.

But stepping down to avoid the American public's juvenile obsession with "scandal" isn't cause to revoke the compensations he's earned over a career.

Not sure you are going to be able to defend this one all that well. I am not sure the vote is really in on if he broke the law or not.

Really nothing to defend.

In so far as I'm able to ascertain there have been no criminal charges filed against Wu up to this point and there is no indication that he's the subject of any law enforcement investigation.

If there is an investigation and it does result in charges being filed and he is found guilty of breaking the law I'll amend my opinion on the matter accordingly.

Until then all we've got to go on is that an 18-year-old woman made vague charges about "unwanted sexual advances".

I'm just not willing to run out and grab a rope on the strength of that.

Let's hope this piece if shit shoots himself. Anyone that defends him deceives to have their daughter spend some time with him...

He is garbage, scum, and if it was my daughter he beat in college or had sex with while she was in highschool last year inwould get banned for saying what I would do to him.

Let's hope the next woman he hits or rapes owns a gun....

Like I said, he's sleezy. No question about that. I have no interest in hanging out with the guy.

But he's never actually been charged with a crime.

If saying thhat he can't be punished as though he's a commited a crime because he's never even been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of commiting a crime, is defending him then,

Okay then.

Man, this is an upsetting and ugly trend, back in the good old days Democrats could molest pages, have prostitutes run business from their
Washington residence and drown young women in their cars and they stayed in office.

A man who is separated from his wife hits on an 18 year old and that means he needs to step down, or possibly face some kind of punishment? How does that make sense?

I think he did more than hit on her. He may have physically assaulted her. from what I heard.

From what you "heard". You're gonna have to back that up.

Since women NEVER lie about "unwanted" sexual contact, ESPECIALLY not when it involves a prominent public figure, we probably should just take the girl's word for it and throw the judicial process to the wind.

ORRRR

We could simply base it on his history?

He has done it before and admited it, while in college.

Then again lets just call the 18 year old a slut and let this perverated son of bitch write some laws.

Got to love the Liberal Way!

I smoked pot when I was a kid.

Ergo, I must be smoking pot right now!

Then again lets just call the 18 year old a slut and let this perverated son of bitch write some laws. Let's not.

In fact, lets not be hystrionic knee-jerk little crybabies in any respect.

Let's let that young adult bring formal charges against the guy if she feels he actually commited a crime and allow our criminal justice system to determine whether or not her chargees have merit, whether or not Wu is guilty of those charges, and, if guilty, what his punishment should be.

Crazy fucking suggestion, I know.

Got to love the Liberal Way! Or I can just accuse you of diddling my son and then demand that you be publicly executed.

That'd be fair too.

So pot smoking is like attempted rape?
