The President has indicated he will go to the Super Bowl if the Chicago Bears are playing. This entirely personal (non-Presidential) outing will have to be funded by the taxpayers to the tune of several million dollars. Not to mention the hassle that it will cause for everyone else attending the Superbowl.
On a side note since this is a personal trip the President should have to pay for his own tickets at the face value price of $900 apiece. |

Well, I'm not a fan of baseball, but I don't complain when presidents attend those at the taxpayers' expense. True, most times they throw out the first pitch, but so what? I don't see that as a pressing national concern. Sometimes they just go to see the game. I'm one of those people who believes our presidents work very hard and deserve leisure time when they can get it.
By the way, Paul, you know as well as I that everything any president does and anywhere he goes is funded by the taxpayer. He's the President 24/7 and nothing is "non-Presidential." |

The first pitch is almost as much a rite of passage as Opening Day itself, which I consider a holiday. More often than not, it's done in the Baltimore or D.C. area, so it's not too costly.
Obama going to the Super Bowl on a whim if its his favorite team seems a little awkward. I'd be okay if he'd decide just yes or no. To go if its his team, partially because of the cost, seems like entitlement. |

The Superbowl is a security nightmare by itself but having Dear Leader there makes it 10 times worse. It would cost us an additional many millions in security just to have him there. Just another excuse for him to have yet another vacation and play some golf in Dallas.
I'm glad the Packers won. Barry can stay home now. ![]() |
