Default GOP majority leader backs plan to slash Social Security, Medicare
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/01/g...rity-medicare/

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) on Sunday threw a measure of support behind a key Republican lawmaker's plan to dramatically cut Social Security and Medicare.

"House Republican Leader Eric Cantor and House Republicans are now 'full speed ahead' on a devastating plan that would privatize Social Security and eliminate Medicare that American seniors earned," said Jesse Ferguson, a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. It's not "earned" There is no defined amount in a lock box, sitting somewhere.. It was SPENT and is now being taken from others who won't even get the same sort of benefit when they retire. FDR's zombie corpse is just robbing someone else for a change.

But, that's not the real problem.. Fact is, ALL PONZI schemes end poorly. I think everyone knows these things are like musical chairs. It's just how it goes. I think, once the gravity of the situation becomes clear, Americans would accept the precarious position we are in and act to repair the damage.. and FDR's absurd legacy will come to a close.. Squandered to death by the pinheads in DC.

The real problem for the GOP is their dogged insistence on nation building and mil pork. Of course the Democrats have an issue here also (Remember who has been funding the wars since January of 07!) but the R's are the ones know for their hatred of entitlements and it's their plan.. The dems will debate with them briefly and then let them win.

But I predict (And every poll shows this to be correct) that Americans value these programs MORE than they value our gargantuan military presence and various wars of conquest.

If you tell them that they must sacrifice, but refuse to cut the military spending and scope SIGNIFICANTLY, they'll smell a scam and the result will be demoralization and even more diminished faith in our two party, sham system of government.

Eventually people are going to wake up and realize that these two "sides" are composed of the same people, who were educated at the same places, who speak the same language, have the same interests... and that the effect is often little more than congressional theater.

There's no real opposition on a WIDE RANGE of issues.. They're simply knocked off the table and forgotten. It's been decided that there WILL BE no argument, so there isn't.

This is to be expected in a country which openly encourages the purchasing of political favors and permits its press to be bought up by those very same interests.

It's really difficult to envision how it could have ended any differently.
