Default Spanish Vs Turkish pre 19th century achievements
Hi ABF,

Being an admirer of Hispanic history and studies, indeed, it is my undergraduate degree...
I at times grapple with suppressed but emerging thoughts regarding Ottoman achievements vs. Spanish achievements. Don't get me wrong, I believe the Siglo de Oro and Spanish art and naval , military innovations as being impressive contributions in their own right. On the flip side, I also do admire the Ottomans. The Ottomans after all kept their own ground and turf despite the rising power of the West. Indeed, the West concentrated their colonial expansion to all parts of the globe but avoided the Ottoman occupied lands because, those lands, were relatively well controlled.

With that said...
Could be it said the Ottomans do not deserve the lack of respect they receive by users on this forum? I know this is a vague question, and perhaps contradictory, but bare will me as I am quite sleepy and will go to sleep in t-minus ten minutes.

I'll come back to the forum when i wake up. See ya'll...
